Hey, I just installed KYB AGX's and Ground Control Coil-Over kit. I was wondering if anybody ran a similar setup and if so, what settings did you use? Also, I been reading some bad reviews on the longevity of the KYB's... some say they will only last up to 6 months. This REALLY worries me because I spent a lot of $$$ on this set up.

the KYB AGX's are very similar to the Tokico adjustibles i had on one of my RX-7's. if you run around with them adjusted to the firmest setting all the time, yes they will wear out quicker. if you are merely daily driving crank them down, and reserve the firmer valving options for autoX or spirited driving sessions.
either way, they should last longer than 6 months. I would expect 3-5 years and 30-60K miles depending on your driving style and, damper settings, and wheel/tire combo.

i have mine on all soft unless im going "driving" then i crank it up to 6-8 out back and 3-4 up front depending ... all the way is extrememely harsh and really should only be used for a track i think... or a realllllly smooth road. but they should last way longer than 6 months cuz ive had them for about 3 and if they go out im gonna have someones ass... lol give me a good excuse to buy coilovers though :)

hey 3rdchild,
don't mean to change the subject, but what spring rates did you get on your GCs? how do u like them- are they too stiff, too soft?

Sorry for the late reply, Ive been busy testing out settings on my new suspension. Im not exactly sure what the spring rates are, I'll have to get back to you on that one. As for the stiffness its pretty stiff but not too harsh.
Heres what ive found out:
Front:Back settings
2:4 - Bouncy! Ride quality is terrible - never felt like more of a ricer
4:8 - TOO stiff - Bumpy - riding for a day has probably rendered me sterile
1:2 - Almost stock ride quality
I might do a review of the GC's - since i havent seen one yet

how low do you have your car?
also, don't you get to custom order the GCs in any spring rate you want?

I have about an inch of a drop, I want to go lower but I wont untill i can get some money to do a much needed alignment (because i dont want too much negative camber).
When you order from ground control you can specify a spring rate and if you dont they will just send you the default spring rate for the kit. I cant remember what they sent me but it works pretty good.
The GC's are a cheap alternative to actuall coil-overs such as Tein, JIC, ect if you plan to use your stock shocks. But i ended up spending about 1000 on my suspension when i could have gotton a Tein Ha for 1125 w/o pillowball uppermount or Tien HE for 1380 w/ pillowball uppermount
Plus you wont have to do any mods to the struts like you would with going with the ground control kit - installation of gc's are somewhat a pain in the butt.
Cust serv at GC is top notch though. I called several times and even emailed for installation help and they came through everytime (the instructions were kinda hard to understand-some parts are hand drawn!).
I could of gotton some good used JIC or Buddyclub coilovers with the camber plate/uppermount on ebay for arround 800 not including shipping.
didnt think of that untill i bought my current set up
KYB AGX shocks - 400
Ground Controls - 400
Cusco Camber plates/uppermount front - 250
Oh well...
next for suspension for me will be some rims and sway bars
