i pull out of the food joint and im at a light and,may i add a very long light, well some dude in a fair lady 300zx twin turbo and rev's hard and his friend pulls on my other side in a 99 supra twin turbo RZ and he start's reving hard so me in my MR2 starts reving hard, all of us are have sticks not auto's, we look at each other, the one in the supra sayz, green light,go at it hard. so the light turns green and the power from our cars to the street was crazy the noise from the tires was so great, before i new it i was in 3rd doing 72 mph and was pealing away from the 300 fast thern 4th and i am doing 90 and the supra is right beside me then 5th and the supra started to pull away very slowly and so i gunned it and by the time we hit our ending mark, which was the next light we tied. i know i reached 148 easy and then we had to stop. if we were to kept going the supra would have took over the race for good. afther we met up asked why they wanted to race me they said because they seen me when i pulled up and they asked was it suped up i said no, not yet but waite when it do:cool: :bandit: :smoker2: :smoka:

That's a nice race! Hey, I got a question... does the MR2 have a speed limiter? Do you know how fast it can go... i have a friend who was going so fast his MR2 hydroplaned and crashed... he was unhurt though, now he's rebuilding it again! That thing is so fast... he only wished it would have more traction....

Good storie, but I think you and the Supra need to do it all over agine and get a friend to take a couple of picks with a poloroid (spell) camara at least. maybe make the race a lil shorter so you know you will win since you say you know the Supra will beat you in top end!!!!!!!

Just an idea......

What year MR2.

Anyway, I am sure a well-driven supra would woop a MR2 anyday. This whole thing sounds like a fishing story. Like the time they air-lifted this pike I had caught, adn it pulled the helicopter under, and thats why no one else heard about it.

SOUNDS GOOD!

I THOUGHT TOYOTA STOPPED PRODUCING THE SUPRA IN 97 SO WHY DOES THE GUY HAVE A 99 SUPRA?

You seem to be correct. I just checked, and from what I can find, the last model year for the Supra was the 1998 model year, which went on sale in 1997.

Chris

Thats right! The Supra tied as being the last Japanese sports car to be sold here (The Mitsubishi 3000, which might have lasted until 99, I'm not quite sure)

JD@af

You are correct sir. The 3000GT continued sales into 1999.

I long for the return of the high end Japanese sports cars (the NSX being the obivous exception, as its been here all along, and I'd call it more of an exotic than a "high end," being an $85,000 car and all), which we should see in the next 2 to 3 years. I also look forward to the Nissan Skyline's arrival, although if rumors are true that it is only going to get a V6, they are selling it short in my opinion.

Chris

The Skyline could end up a shadow of its former self. Either way, we are seeing a resurgence of Japanese sports cars, which is good.
I cant wait for the new Z, and we might get a RX-7 again.
Life is good:)

I hope not.. I am hoping it will be a new release like when the R32 GTR was first released. Based on the race cars.

Base it on the R390...

R390 was a Nissan made sports prototype racer...not sure about much else...

Chris
10-19-2001, 02:20 PM
R390's were raced at LeMans. They didnt do well, but a few were sold for the road. They are very cool, and cost about a million bucks.
And they stopped making the twin turbo Supra Sportroof in 97', the twin turbo continued on for another year.

OK, lets get the Supra story stright, 1998 was the last offical model year for the US import Supras, it was only available in a twin turbo verison, the 1997 model year is the 15th anaversary edition car and most concider it to be the end of an era! ALTHOUGH over seas they did continue to produce the Supra in the the 1999 model year, to my knowledge there are NO 1999 model year supras in the United States! and looking at how much a Skyline R34 costs to import I seriously doubt that any one would pay to bring a 1999 Supra to the US when you can get a very low mileage 1997 for about $35,000 to $40,000! So i hate to break the news, but if that guy told you it was a 1999 Supra, he is blowing smoke up your ass, UNLESS it was right hand drive, then it may be a '99.

Hay import one no -jk- customs is not that bad according to a friend in the Navy. Who so happens to be stationed in Japan for 3yrs. I found out that you can get a older 1994-95 Skyline for around 10,000 U.S. dollars
and the motors have around 30 to 60,000 miles on them...!! I want one even a older one but im tight on $$$$$$$$.

The Toyota Supra is actually still being built today. The new 2002 model does a 0-100 in like 8 seconds. The reason they say the production year is finalized in 97, is because you are looking at American Import Distribution. They still makes Supras, but they are only sold in Japan. Although you can't buy them in America since 97', you can still have one imported from Japan, like the Brand new Skyline GT-R34's. It costs about $80,000 to have it shipped to America though, so it really isn't worth it.

I think this kid played one to many games of Gran Turismo. he is in North Carolina, and he busts out with terms like Failady Z and 99' Supra RZ. Come on man i don't even know why we are puting this much effort into this kid. Stock MR2 could not hang with a twin turbo Z much less one with mods & a Supra twin turbo. Right! His older brother has an MR2 so he's all my MR2. Don't waist our time with this panty waste bullcrap. THANK YOU!:flipa: :zx11pisse

The Nissan R390 GT1 was a $1,000,000 low production supercar. It had a mid-engine twin turbo V8 that put out 550hp & 470ft-lbs of torque.
