SI Swaybar in a 6th Gen EX

I just bought a 21mm Skunk2 rear swaybar for my 97 Civic EX, my EX has a 22mm front swaybar. I was thinking, If I put a 26mm SI front sway in it should balance me out pretty well. Has anyone done this? What did it take to get the swaybar in? Did you have to drill new holes to get it to work or did it bolt in?

Any thoughts on doing this would be appreciated.

i dont think the EX has rear sway bar attach points... tho I may be wrong.

as for the front Si sway bar, it's designed to function with the heavier motor of the Si, therefore being too stiff for your application and result in more understeer.

my suggestion... leave the front sway bar, and attach a rear one to achieve more neutral handling.

The EX rear end is the same as the Si has everything you need, the control arms are drilled and so is the sub frame, as far as the front sway bar, to be honest, it is dependent on how your car is now?

How is your full throttle accel on a hard turn? You break the tires loose, you lose grip on tight turns in first gear? If so then I would not recommend upgrading. Why unless you have a front camber kit and are willing to dial in more negative camber up front, and you have adjustable shocks, you have Koni yellows right?
If so you soften up the front settings and increase negative camber up front I say go for it, but without applying those settings you may increase understeer, which is just inherent in our cars.

As for the comment about the sway bar there is only a 100lb difference between the Si and EX 2500lbs vs 2600Lbs so the stiffer front bar is more of a response to the stiffer shocks, and more aggressive springs that the Si employs. Honda wanted to give the car a different feel from the lower models, and by increasing the stiffness of the bar, it greatly changes the feel of the front end mated to the new shocks and springs.
And the Si is well balanced.

The 6th Gens do have the mounting hole for the endlinks, like Dez said. The 5th Gens dont unless the already have rear swaybars. If this is the case you have to buy Integra LCA for the rear to get it to work. And I believe its the same way with the Neuspeed bar as well. The skunk2 swaybar will bolt right upto the stock holes with no modifications, except maybe reinforcing the Subframe to prevent tear out.

Thanks Dez.. I probably wont be upgrading the front swaybar unless Im noticing to much oversteer, I will play with it some after I get the Skunk2 swaybar installed and see how it is panning out. Chances are I wont need it but, just in case I do, I wanted to see how hard it would be going to a little bit bigger bar in the front. Now If my mounting hardware for the Skunk2 bar ever comes in and I can get it installed on the Civ. then Ill be off to a good start.:D

I still have not gotten my rear bar back on yet
namely cause of winter now, and I am going to have to spend some big money in the spring to do reapirs, on the bearings, replace my front camber kit, more alignment BS.
Here is my car, now as you can tell I could car less if I get the stuff done now, I have to focus on moving up in my new job and all that shit, but when I am back on a roll, I have the internals to by as well, so maybe by late next year I'll be rolling again?

Wow Dez.. Thats a sexy car you have there..;) Im about to put my steelies on probably this weekend since Im leaving next week and Itll probably snow while Im gone. You gotta love the winter..:rolleyes:

Done deal... Probably saturday... Hopefully my Skunk2 hardware comes in today.. So I can play with it a little before taking my wheels off. To bad you dont have your turbo on, youd have a hell of a sleeper look.
