I purchased a 99 Isuzu Rodeo LS last September. The first day after I bought it, I had to get the ABS fixed. Two months later, there's a whistling noise...come to find out there was a crack in the manifold. Now, a year later, my fuel gauge and sensor are gone, and my engine light just came on thirty minutes ago. What is going on with my car? Why is it falling apart? I've been told by the mechanics at the dealership that the fuel sensor thing is normal, but Isuzu won't fix it...and I'm guessing there's something wrong with my O2 sensors, which is why the engine light is on (I hopethat's all that's wrong). Does anyone have any info that might help me? I take excellent care of my car, and I just can't figure out what's going on. Thanks a bunch!

There has been a recall issued for the ABS issue. That should have been a freebie repair for you. The cracked intake manifold gasket is a common problem with the 1998-2002 3.2's & 3.5's. Most isuzu dealers will fix this for free one time. The faulty fuel gage reading is caused by a bad sending unit in the gas thank (another poor design). Isuzu redesigned the sending unit in 2001, but unfortunately the only way to fix yours is to remove the gas tank, pull & replace or rework your exisiting sending unit ("adjust" the contact points on it & reuse the old one). The new design wont work in pre 2001's. The check engine light will come on when the gas gage goes out / sending unit goes bad. Sorry about your troubles! Could be worse. You'd spend much more time & $$$ fixing a comparable blazer, explorer or durango!!!

Hi Joel,
can you point me in the direction of this abs recall, I recently paid for an abs repair ($300+), I'd hate to think it was covered.
thanks,
