hi
i think the Catalytic Converter on my 93 grand am v6 is toast
i smell rotten eggs, and just now the car was idling and almost stalling out, and it would rev by itself. Whats a guy to do??? Can you remove it yourselve?????
btw: i post here because no one posts in the grand am forum

You can have it replaced if you want to. If it's no problem removing it yourself, then you could, though I would suggest having someone who knows how and the equipment to do it remove it. You can have it replaced or just go without it--depends on where you are. I have my cat removed, and it doesn't cause me any problem (and in fact, I passed emissions when I reregistered my car yesterday--and there I thought I might not make it).

you can change it out yourself. it sounds like the cat is hollowed out and your running rich and thats why it smells like rotten eggs.
