Howdy peoples :evillol:

Would anyone know where I could get a chart or table that would break down the letters and numbers in my VIN?

I had a 95 Sunfire (don't ask!!) and I happened across a website with this info (for Pontiacs anyway) but now I can't find squat.

Thanx

so do you want it for a sunfire or your civic? if you plan on doing anything to your car i suggest getting a Helms manual. Or any service manual, the owner's manual doesn't count. Anywho, i believe those manuals on the first couple pages or so tell you specifically what each character means. I have two things that i could decode it with, my manual and my notes from last weeks Auto Tech class where we went over this. What specifically do you want to know?

Thanx for the info!
Sorry, I should have specified that I dumped that shatty Sunfire for a Civic back in 2000.

Yes, this would be for a Honda, I just picked up an '03 Si and was curious about it. (please don't flame, I happen to like the shape and I practically stole it at $14,200 w/10 miles on it, so I'm happy with it)
I do plan on buying a Helms but I'm also curious about the stupid stuff like when my car was built, what plant it came from, where it was originally shipped to etc..
All this info was available when decoding the VIN on the Sunfire so I figured it might be the same for Honda's.

Thanx again!!

No prob.

Now just swap an RSX Type-S motor into it, dump it on some nice full coilovers such as Tein or A'PEXi, and throw some Mugen or RSX-R (DC5 Integra Type-R) wheels on it and no one will ever dog the shap again. :D hehe, nah, that would cost at least $10k just to do all that!

Yup, that's the plan!!
:evillol: :evillol: :evillol:

There's a silver Type-S in my area and I know the reputation of the owner. About another 2-3 months and he'll have it totaled. I'm already starting to butter up the owners of all the local junkyards - hopefully they'll keep their eyes peeled for me.

My dream would be to convert it piece by piece to the JDM CTR.

Sorry, I know I'm going off-topic on my own thread but I gotta say, SilverY2k, that's a damn fine ride you got there.
I just traded in my 2000 EX coupe for the '03 Si and everytime I see your pic I get misty about what could have been. :disappoin
Then again, I'll never get my CTR by modding a coupe (correct?) so I had to take the plunge (the price helped me jump :naughty: )

Oh, and thanks for the props. I've been hiding out here long enough to learn some good shish from you guys - I think I have my head on straight now. :iceslolan
