Depends on how well the cars have been taken care of. If it's been taken care of well, it'll last just like any other car. If it's beat on every time the car is taken out, it's lifespan will be considerably less...

Well, I know that the 5.0 has a stronger aftermarket to support modifications to that car. If it was between a 92 5.0 and a 93 Z28, I'd personally take the Z28, first year of the 4th generation. I think the 5.0 would have an edge on the 92, and the 93 would have an edge on the 5.0.

I would take the Z28 any day, I mean, I love mustangs, but I don't really like the looks of the early 90's stangs. :iceslolan

P']what do u tink is better? a 92 z28 or a 92 mustang 5.0?Actually, '92 was the last year of the third-generation in which I would strongly prefer the Mustang over it. Now if it was a '93 then it'd be different. As far as hp the first year of the lt1's had 275hp & a '92 5.0 would be around 220hp. I have no idea on the gas milage.

I think the 91-92 z28 is one of the most beautiful camaros made since 69. The ground effects , the high-rise spoiler , gorgeous car !!! I made my 84 in its image :). 92 camaro 350 tpi wasnt a bad car as far as speed goes either , 245 hp stock .

P']ok thx,

I am not sure of the hp of a '92 Camaro, but I get about 24 mpg on the highway in my '87. It has a modified 350 running a stock rear end and beefed up trans.
The '92 Mustang is about 220 hp, and has a great resell value. I think the fuel economy is about the same as the Camaro.

92 5.0 is rated at 225 hp and 300 ft-lbs. I believe the MPG is 18/22, city highway.

Of course, I cannot make up your mind for you, but I can give somethings to consider when buying a car. First of all, how much can you afford? On the list you gave, the early 90's Camaro will be one of the cheapest to buy and the BMW will be the most expensive. I was surprised to learn when I bought my new Camaro last year how much insurance is on it....it is a V-6 coupe, and I drive 125k+ miles each year with no tickets or accidents on my record; one company wanted $5900 per year to insure it.
The Camaro and Mustang have the most affordably pricedengine perforance parts. But the Civic and Eclipse have more cosmitic upgrades available. The smaller the engine you get, the better the fuel economy you will get, and a smaller engine does not mean that you will not have good performance. Honda/Acura are know for powerful and dependable engines. The Eclipse is not very far behind it in in power and reliablity. The BMW is a fast car that handles great, but maintennace cost may run you more than you can afford while still in school.
One more thing to consider (and I know I will catch some flack for saying this), since you are a new driver there is a very likely chance that you will be in an accident within the next three years. When I was 16 and told that by my step-father, I said I am a better driver than that, but sure enough a year later I wreck my car.

Get a 88-91 CRX or 92-95 Civic Hatch Back and put a DOHC VTEC b16a or b18c in it. That would be the fastest of the cars you listed. A eclipse GSX or GST would be fastest stock then the z28. The Honda/Acura should be really reliable. I have had good dependabilty with chevys too. Chevy parts will be cheap. Honda/Acura parts are cheap unless it has to be a dealer bought item. BMW is not worth it. Repairs will cost more than its worth. Aftermarket parts will be spendy too. if you go with a vw try a late 90's GTi Vr6 there fast cars. VW are not to great with reliability. A lot of my buds have them and have electrical problems after a while. Id go with Civic with a eninge a swaped in it. The insurance will be cheaper than a z28 and gas will be better. A GST or GSX Eclipse will be costly to insure for a kid and a n/a ecplise is gutless. Go with the Z28 if you cant afford to swap a engine in to a civic. Id go with a Z28 or Civic if I was you. Both cars have potential and both are fun as long as you get the right model.
