Axel or brake problems?

I drive a 00 honda civic ex. My car is making a weird sound. It sound like metal grinding together. I first thought it was my brake fluid, so I fill it up because the break lights came up once when i was driving. My dad said that it might be the axel. I don't know how that can be the axel. By the way, my car is dropped 2.5 inches with skunk2 lowering spring w/o a camber kit. Would that cause the axel to go bad? my brakes been through rough times. I haven't change the brake pads since i got it brand new. Does anyone have a clue to what is wrong with my car?

Thanks for any advice.

If your brake fluid is low or was low then your brake pads are worn! Wait too long and you will be buying rotors also, metal on metal is no good. Most places do a free brake inspection, at that time have them check your axles if you would like.

When you do replace the brake pads & resurface rotors - DO NOT use cheap Midas or whatever "life time" pads - THEY ARE JUNK! I recommend using only Honda pads if not upgrading for performance.

Hey thanks for the advice.
My brake fluids went under the minium mark.
I'm planning to take my car in to Pepboy for a free inspection. From there on, I'll know what's actually wrong with my car.

Do yourself a favor & take it another place besides Pep Boys. Pay a few extra $$$ for a quality job done right.

You should inspect/clean/lube/adjust brakes every 15,000 miles or so.
