All time worst feelings . . .

What are some of the worst feelings you can remember . . . you know, that gut wrenching sensation you get when you reverse into somebody's pristine Benz, or that time when you realized that you were going to sit in a cell until you could post bail . . .

One of mine: On a road trip to VA, i blew out a tire . . . emptied my trunk to get to the spare, and then realized that the key for my cheap-o wheel lugs was totally rounded and useless . . . then after limping my G to a service station where they took the lugs off (and RE-emptying my trunk), I find out that the car that I bought a two years ago didn't even have the right spare in the trunk . . . it didn't fit.

What are some of yours? Talk about it . . .

When I was like 15 or 16 I was riding my bike through the neighborhood. One time I was backing up (not looking behind me) when all of a sudden... WHAM! I ran into my mom's car ('87 Olds Firenza) and broke the left taillight assembly. When she saw it like an hour or two later (she was out during that time) she almost called the cops because no one knew who did it (I told her a second later). Never got in trouble for it.

Sorry to hear about your premonitions Kat . . .

I didn't think of stuff like that . . .

Don't you have some worst feelings that aren't soooooooo bad, though?

Like did you forget to pick your little brother up from soccer practice or something like that?

You know?:(

I deleted the other post because maybe that was too much for some people...sorry :(

One of my worst feelings was when my motor blew and the shop wanted to fix the old one for over $3k. I had paid them to change my timing belt while the motor was apart for a head gasket job 30K miles earlier but have a feeling I paid for the belt but it never got replaced. This happened when I was at a low point financially and had other things going on and this was just one more thing to list of "stoopid sh!t that can go wrong". That had to be one of the more stressful times for me as far as "non-family" matters going on.

I think when I put that nail all the way through my foot. I never saw that damn thing sticking out of a 2X4 and the bastard shot through my boot, foot and out the top of the boot. Hurt like a son of a bitch.

If you mean emotional pain then I dont want to go there. I've got those things dealt with and have no need to rehash them.

When I was riding shotgun with a buddy of mine, and he took a sharp turn too quickly. It was the feeling that you knew you were going off the road, down into a big ditch, when everything goes into slow motion.

Second, would have to be when I blew out my knee playing basketball in college. People on the other side of the court could hear ligaments and cartelege being ripped and torn apart as I went down.

Car wise I have a few stories.

1. This was in my 85' Jeep. I was at the second worst intersection in Longmont. I had been sitting at this intersection for what seemed like ten min, but was more like two or three. Finally it looks clear and I start to pull out suddenly there is a white mini-van. I tried to stop but I hit him broadside. The side of my bumper hit his wheel well and was ripped off and my right headlight surround was destroyed. His van was pushed into the curb and I flatened three of his tires and left a 2 1/2 foot long dent in the side of the van. It was a company vehicle but this was my first accident and at the age of 17, I was worried that my parents were going to KILL me. I ended up spending $50 for a new bumper, bumper brackets, and the new plastic headlight surrounds and turn signal to fix it myself. I did about $2500 in damage to his van.

2. I had just got my LeBaron and was doing a delivery for work to Salt Lake. I was supposed to get off on 600E. After getting to 600E and pulling off I could not keep the engine started. My gas was low so i pulled into a gas station and started filling it up. As I was I saw white smoke coming out from under my hood. So I popped the hood and that engine was HOTTTT. My temp gauge showed that it was fine. So I let it sit for 30 min and popped the radiator cap and I gurgled out most of what was in there being it was still very hot. I let it sit for another hour and a half and filled it back up with warm water and coolant. I then let it sit for another half hour and started it up. It sat there and ran just fine an the temp gauge was normal. I let it run for about 15 min to make sure. I then made the delivery and went home. The next morning I went to go get some coolant so I cold drain the radiator and fill it back up correctly and it would not start. I finally got it to start and white smoke was coming from the turbo a few seconds later coolant and white smoke was spewing out of the exaust. The next thing that enters my mind is "OHH SHIT." Either the block or the head was cracked. It turns out that the head gasket blew and craked the head. The stupid temp guage was broken and the thermostat needed to be replaced since it was stuck open.

3. Was in my LeBaron again, poor daily driver. I was picking a friend up and we were pulling ot of the parking spot at his dorm. I was trying not to hit this bike parked behing me and did not see the pole in my blind spot. I guess that is why they call it a blind spot, huh. Anyhow the lovely cunching of metal ensues and I blather out my popular pissed word "SHIT." Lucky for me the pole was red and pretty muched mached the paint on my car. I kicked the big dent out but there was still damaged, man I was pissed.

One of the worst feelings I had was when we had just bought 2 brand new kayaks. We had them strapped onto the roofracks of my husband's earlier car. We were driving along the motorway at about 100km/hr when the kayaks flew off the car!

When we pulled over to the side of the road we noticed that it wasn't just the kayaks that had come off, it was also the roofracks, with the kayaks still attached to them!

That was the worst feeling ever. It was really dangerous and could have injured or killed someone if the kayaks had hit someone's car when they came off.

Needless to say we've never felt the same way about the ever since and have recently sold them! :(

I first saw this thread as soon as it was posted, and started thinking. I still haven't thought of anything that's caused that feeling in me before, although I know it has happened. But Polygon's backing into the pole reminded me of this....

Last September, at the college autoshow, we would have to move some of the cars around sometimes. It's an outdoors auto show. Anyways, one of the girls on the Lexus team was backing up a bright white 2002 LS 430 and smucked a foot and a half pole against the front fender (she was turning, and the front natually has a kind of swing motion while turning in reverse). It caused $1500 of damage, I believe. Luckily Lexus Canada was awesome about it and said not to worry, they'd take care of it. I guess they expect damage to show vehicles.

Ugh, I hate it that most of the freaken girls at school, or pretty much anywhere for that matter, say that I am very cute bla bla bla but that I am just a little bit TOO FRIGGIN SHORT for them. DAMN IT, that pisses me off because a lot of these females are DAM FINE! It burns me harshly man. I will no go into a corner and cry myself to sleep.

I hope this doesn't creep anyone out, but this really did happen...

I was standing in my kitchen hand-washing some dishes. Now, I was watching the T.V. across the room at about 11:45am before the afternoon news. All of a sudden, my stomach sank and I dropped the dish I was washing!!! (but it went back in the water and didn't break) In my mind's eye I saw one of the local news casters talking about another school shooting. The feeling was so surreal I immediately told my dad about this image... :( Not 10 minutes after I said that the very same newscaster came on the Noon news and uttered almost the exact words I had imagined! It was the day of the school shooting just outside Columbine... :( I was nearly in tears from how shocked and scared I was...

On a lighter note: I remember when my mom's 1977 Olds 88 got hit by a golf cart just a few months ago... :( Now, you wouldn't think that a golf cart could do any damage to such a giant boat. And infact, when the guy came in the restaraunt to confess, I just laughed and asked if he had even been able to put a scratch in the paint. Then I saw the front wheel well smashed in! $800+ in damage with a used front fender!!! I was petrified of what the parents would do, but surprisingly, they were pretty calm...

Yeah i think im gonna have to Go With AE2001 one on this September 11 definitly changed the way i look at the world, i live in Brooklyn Heights which if u dont know NYC is directly across the river from lower manhattan, i didnt even hear about what had happened until i was in my morning calc two class and i called a friend to see y he wasnt in class yet, u know its funny cause i kinda laughed when he told me its still pretty hard to believe. Neway so there i was stuck in long island far away and all i wanted to do was get home and make sure everybody was ok. i managed to get a ride to queens and took the subway into the city once they started running again and decided somewhere along the line that i had to see things for myself, so i got off the train and all u could see was this billow of smoke coming from all of downtown manhattan. i dont know y but it gave me the worst feeling knowing that people were somewhere under all that concrete steel and glass. Wind up of the story was that i ended up volunteering that nite and ended up on one of the first civilian bucket brigades allowed down to ground zero the shit i saw down there will never leave me and it was defintly one of the worst experinces of my life, but yet im still glad i was there doing my part to pick up the pieces....LATE

i haven't really had any emotional bad feelings but when i was snowboarding last year in whistler me and my friend went inbetween the trees and we usually hit small cliffs and stuff (like nothin bigger than 20 feet) well anyway i we were weavin through the trees enjoyin the powder nobody found, when i see a drop right in front of me, it's too late to stop so i went straight off it (it actually wasn't very big just like 15-20 ft) but as i hit the snow i just miss a huge rock and tree about a foot to the left of me, i looked at that and i thought i stomped it and i'm gunna ride away.... WRONG!! i caught an edge and went head first into a tree
OUCH!! that sucked
plus it was a nice pain in the ass diggin myself out of the snow with a headache

Other than that though, I would also have to say the "road-kayaking experiment" I would just like to point out that I tied the kayaks on really well; they did not leave the roofracks......pity the roofracks left the car, but I guess you can't have everything :p

Another absolutely dreadful feeling is plough understeer. It's such a horrible feeling to be yanking the wheel around, but just still heading straight for that dirty great cliff by the side of the road :eek2:

Saturn: I must say that your story about your preminition was AMAZING!!!!!!

MY worst feeling was waking up first thing September 12 and my g/f telling me the WTC had been destroyed and Pentagon damaged, my first thoughts were with a friend who worked in the WTC, but as I later found out, he was skiving off on the golf course:p

On a lighter note, the worst feeling I have had other than Sept 11 was when my $30,000 Ford Falcon XR8 was destroyed by a Honda CRX

I just turned 16. I drove my Uncles car into a lake on accident :(
Was backing up and roled backwards down the hill into the water and flooded the inside of the car. Was the most surreal feeling ever..

And then the time when my friend was driving my car and we got pulled over. I still don't know why we got pulled over, but the cop was a real ass and was threatening to take me to jail. Just then, 2 other cops pulled up and surrounded us. I've never been to jail before, and they were all acting like I was a criminal. Oh well, just glad that's over.

With 35 years of live I have had some pretty gut wrenching times. I guess the one that hurt the most out of all of them was this:

I had a very close and dear friend which I grew up with. One after noon while listen to the radio, the traffic report came on. State hwy 120 just out side of woodstock was closed due to a bad accident. Cool I though I can take this way home and avoid that area.
I get home and 2 hrs later the phone rings and it is Bob's dad, choking back tears. He said Bob was killed today when he was hit by some tosser who blew a stop sign and pushed bike into the path of an on coming semi. My heart stopped cold and I had no words.
The kid that blew the stop sign had just stolen mommy's car for a joy ride and was only 14!
I am actually a bit choked writing this, as he was more than just a friend but like a brother. I was part of his family for years and even used go on vacations with them. Bobby will be and still is sorely missed. A voluenteer fire man/ rescue squad helper.

Take care mate.

Oh, i'm choked up just reading that. it must be the worst feeling in the world to lose someone that is more than just a friend. about 3 years ago my best friends dad died of cancer, and we were like brothers too. almost every weekend i would sleep at his house or he would sleep at mine. after his dad died he came all the way over here from hawaii, that was a sad time.

RazorGTR

It is never easy on the heart and soul to lose anyone that is close to you. It is however a part of life and something everyone must deal with, whether it is family or friends.
The true test is how you deal with it. There is still that hurt, but also I have not let it stop me from trying to enjoy life, since life is too short to dewl on the past too long.
