Nasty dishes...

So, about 2 hours ago, I was gettin' kinda hungry, and figured I'd cook something, so I walk into my kitchen (which is about the size of a shoe-box), and as per usual, there's dirty dishes all over the counter and in the sink... (which is difficult to avoid, since the kitchen sink is actually a wet-bar sink, because that is the only size sink that would actually fit in the narrow countertop). This is a big house, but for some reason, the kitchen is super tiny.

Anyways, in order to cook some food, I would have to do some dishes, not only to be able to use some of the pots and pans, but just to have some room to actually cook.

And, as usual, I find all kinds of nasty stank on alot of the dishes, since it seems that I'm the only one living here that actually realizes that if you rinse off your plates or whatever immediately after using them, they are much easier to clean (And can go directly into the dishwasher instead of being piled in/on/around the kitchen). Everyone else leaves all their crap on the plate, and just piles the plates and whatnot into the sink (which I might add does not have a garbage disposal unit). so, pretty much any time you want to use the sink (even just to wash your hands) you have to clean up everyone elses nasty dishes.

In any even, I just spent the last 2 hours doing dishes, and have completely lost my appetite. What a waste.

Hell, while I'm at it, and since I won't be eating, here's some pics of my kitchen...

First is a view of the kitchen through the doorway... (that's part of my hot-sauce collection in the window).

Then, a view of the countertop... you'll notice that the countertop actually had to be widened to accomodate the regular-sized dish-washer. You'll also notice that part of the floor had to be removed, and the countertop raised in order to fit the regular-sized dishwasher.

Third, is a picture of the sink... it's tiny to begin with, and much smaller when you take into account the divider between the two halves. Wouldn't be so bad if there was a single trough...

And lastly, the stove-top, which (as usual) is covered with dirty pans...

That is a bloody small kitchen! Looks like it's designed for a family that eats out/has take out every night....

Cleaning dirty dishes that are more than a day old and not rinsed really sucks.... I don't miss the days of living in shared households! :D

That kitchen is actually the same size as the one I had in my studio apt. It was ALWAYS full of dishes (though I rinsed them, they had to go in the sink after that because there was no dishwasher) and I was the only one there. Seriously, I feel sorry for you. That kitchen sucks.

At least you have a dishwasher.... Just get Cascade complete. It eats the food right off the plates when you wash them. I think almost all bachelors have a messy kitchen, and loads of dirty dishes. You could also use paper plates, and just throw them out when your done.

Well, I'm not really a bachelor... I live with my girlfriend and another friend (also a female)... We've done the paper-plate/cup thing before, and all that happens is that we generate an UNGODLY amount of garbage... I also think that I'm the only one who realizes that a box full of air takes up alot more space than necessary in the garbage...

Awwwww........muffin. Are you gonna' go and cwy now????

I wash dishes AS MY OCCUPATION!!! (being a College student blows BTW.) That is nothing compared to what I see in about twenty MINUTES of being at my job! :screwy:

What was there a whole 12 dishes to do???? AND you have a dishwasher????? :grinno: Are you the kinda guy that puts gloves on when they do dishes? :naughty:

Seriously that kitchen does blow though. Way too small, but other than that I don't see what there is to complain about.

Just my :2cents:, not flaming either, just stating the fact that you have no reason to complain, for the simple reason I'm not complaining about my JOB. :)

Yeah Mike. Take the skirt off and back in front of the TV where ya should be.

Q: How many men does it take to open a beer?
A: It should be open by the time she brings it to you.

My parents are on vacation right now, so my entire kitchen is a mess. Maybe I'll take a picture so we compair and compete :D

That kitchen is almost as small as the one in my sister's old apartment, however the entire apartment was small.

Nice collection of hot sauces :bigthumb:

You should just do what i do. Rinse everyhting off your plate when you're done, dry it off and put it back in the cupoard to be used again.
Saves money on soap and valuable killing-brain-cells time. If you're worried about bacteria, jsut drink orange juice with every meal to boost the immune system.

Well, first of all, I've been there done that. Had a few jobs washing dishes, and they all fucking suck (which would be okay if the pay was great, but it's not). That's why I don't wash dishes for "AS MY OCCUPATION". My complaint was not that there was alot of dishes to wash, just that the dishes that were there had all kinds of shit caked on them from several days ago, and some of it was about to grow hair, which ruined my appetite... That's not something you typically deal with in a resteraunt.

Mogg, now THAT is a small kitchen... although, you do have a mess-hall, don't you?

And 94SolGrl, I did do a bunch of dishes... (pictures were taken afterwards)...

Yes, I was thinking it looks like you have stuck a microwave on the bathroom counter.

So what you're saying is, during the time it took for you to go and grab the camera, there were more dishes piled up :crying:

LOL, no... I just didn't finish, because, like I said, the whole reason for me doing dishes was so I could cook some food, and once I'd lost my appetite, I no longer felt the need to continue...
