hey guys i am hooking up my compustar alarm/starter and am wondering which wire is the dome light wire on a 2001 impala, and do i still need a relay when the unit has a dome light supervision output?

also how do you wire a relay for second ignition?
and starter kill/antigrind?

thanx guys

WOW, it sounds as if you are not too experienced in installing remote starters and this is not the car to learn on. There's alot of electronics dodadds on this car to be messing with. Anyway, I will answer what you asked for....

Theoretically on this car you do not need a realy for domelight supervision. However, it is only a 200ma output so you'll need to check it correctly if you use this output wire. See, the car should automatically have domelight supervision if you hook up the keyless entry. The BCM triggers the lights to come one when it senses the locks unlocking.

As for 2nd ignition, look at this http://bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/newsite/pictures/instdiagrams/37.jpg

I know it says it is for trunk pop but look at the +trunk. That's how you'll do it. You will use Pin#3 green wire from the remote start to connect to #85 on the relay. That will be your trigger input. #86 & #30 will be your heavy gauge input+. Then #87 goes to orange to the car. You will have to do this for the 2nd accessory too.

Be carefull with the parking light connection. If not done properly, it will give you a service light condition. You must use the white (-) wire on the car to trigger the lights. It is in PINK 24 pin PLUG @ BCM. The BCM (Body Control Module) is located above the brake pedal. It is a plastic box with three plugs that face the firewall. You must diode isolate this wire from the BCM when doing remote start to avoid the service engine soon light.

Then to top it off, you have Passlock II system to bypass to get the car to start. I strongly urge you to pay extra money for DEI part# 555l for this. It learns the code itself and is pretty much bullet proof compared to others I have used in the past. :evillol:

Whoops! Forgot about the starterkill/antigrind. YOu do not need it. The car will not grind the starter no matter what anyway.
