Turbo Gsr Help

I have recently decided I wanted to go turbo for my GSR. I haven't done much serious looking around yet, and I have quite a few questions. First off, I hear a lot about the T3/T04E turbos. I know that Greddy makes a kit for about 2600$ for my car, but from what I read it is a diff. turbo and doesn't produce as much power as a T3/TO4E. From looking around, it seems like I could piece together a kit for cheaper than buying one. I found a Garrett T3/TO4E for 519$ online, but I don't know how/where/or if i could find the other necessary parts. I need to know all of the necessary parts for a turbo setup, and how much I can expect to pay for it all (considering I did spend about 5-6 hundred for the turbo alone). If there are any full kits with a T3/TO4E then that would be great, but so far I haven't been very successful finding any. Right now I have stock internals and plan on running 6-8psi until I upgrade some of the internals because I hear you can do that safely. If anybody could help me out with a complete parts list, cheap places to buy, suggestions, where I could get a kit, or anything I would appreciate it.

Sorry if any of my information is wrong. I'm new to turbos and I just want help and advice, not criticism.

Ha ha your funny I met someone with your attitude this weekend he had a ws-6 and thought he was god. He didn't think so much of domestics when he got ate up by my friends turbo gsr by about 2 telephone poles. Not all of our cars are just a stock 4 cylinders with a big wing, muffler and stickers, some of us are actually about performance and will eat most domestics for lunch every day of the week.

K, thanks for that tip faggot.
Does anybody have any USEFULL information they could give me? Basically just tell me if a T3/TO4E would make good base for a good setup and try to give me a complete parts lists so I will know what I need to find if I decide to piece a kit together. Prices too if know off the top of your head.

Yeah so what is a "demestic" you fucking retard. You should take your 15 year old ass and look up the word "incest", then come back and explain to us where you came from.

As for the real question, 10psi and under (tuned) is safe for your gsr motor. A turbo does't make power itself, there are many other things you need to consider. For example, a large turbo is going to take longer to spool but will hold boost longer and a smaller is the opposite. I would highly recommend you save yourself the headache and get a kit of some sort. Drag, Fmax, Revhard, and Greddy all make good kits. What will the car be used for mostly, whats your driving style?

I agree that kit would save me a lot of trouble and I wouldn't have to worry about finding and making sure I have all the parts I need. From what I read the greddy kit comes with a smaller turbo than what I was hoping for. I read all about the T3/T4 turbos, but I can't find a kit with one in it. Is there anyway I could buy the turbo separate, and then get a kit that would include all of the rest of the parts I need? But I figure that as long as I knew exactly what I needed, I could piece together a kit for much less than I could buy one. I found a site that goes through installing a turbo on a GSR.

Somebody that knows what they're doing take a look at that and tell me if that's a pretty good, descriptive step by step install that I could use to follow.

An LS has less compression, and that's about all that makes it better for turbo. GSR motor will make more horsepower per pound of boost, the turbo will spool quicker, and the gear ratios are much nicer all around. Save your money and get a good EMS instead of using a junky FMU or an AFC hack or the SMC hack, and you will make a lot more power and have a much smoother running car.

Sorry I got so carried away with dumbass I forgot to answer your question. Piecing together your turbo kit is not very hard it can be cheaper sometimes. I recommend the t3/t4E .60 trim .63 AR it won't spool as quick as a .50 trim but you will have a little more on the top end and if you want to do your internals later and run more boost it will respond better with more power. Go herehttp://www.ks-motorsports.com
The max rev kit comes with everything but an FMU but you can get one of those for 100bux.I recommend getting the 8 psi wategate spring because some people can get carried away with boost controllers and blow up their shit. If you piece your kit together and decide to get a tubular manifold some stick out more and get in the way of your ac fan and you can't retain ac. Also a 3inch downpipe will get in the way of you ac compressor it will take alot of fabricating which will be more headaches. Just a few things to remember if you car is a daily driver which I assume. Do alot of searching and you can get a custom kit for a couple hundred cheaper. Have fun

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to be doing a lot of looking around and talking to people before I make any decisions. What is your opinion on buying parts off ebay? I'll probably post the parts that I'm looking at so you guys can look over them to make sure I'm going in the right direction. My goal is to try and get this done for 2000$ or less. I'll keep you informed.

It really depends on what you are looking at on ebay. I wouldn't buy a used turbo off there for example. Ebay is great for non-mechanical parts and new items. The link you posted up before was good also. That is what is included in a kit and would be a perfect shopping list. I have to agree to stay away from using an fmu setup. You might be able to round up all/most of the parts within your price goal, but trust me you will spend that and more on maitenance, tuning, and just getting it to run good.

Alright. I don't plan on buying any used parts. But what about if I find an unused turbo on ebay?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2435111270&category=33742
Something like that for example? I watched the closing bids for a turbo today, and I think the person that got it ended up only paing 340$ for it. That seems like a good deal to me. I've found many of the other parts on ebay as well. Manifold, downpipe, wastegate, bov, intercooler. What's your opinion on me picking up some of those? Also, someone suggested to check out this site.

What do you think of that?

The yahoo store looked good. Be very wary of turbos on ebay, lots of people pull them from salvage yards, clean the piss out of them and sell them. The link you put up looked alright except I have never heard of that maker. The garrets on the yahoo thing were pretty reasonably priced but thats about it. All that other stuff you could get on ebay, but just dont buy some shitty ass wastegate. Tial makes awesome ones. BOV is just preference, I like HKS. And intercooler I got from this place, they are cheap and ship fast (just got it recently to replace the old Starion unit so no pics yet). They also sell mandrel bends which are alot better than shitty crushed exhuast pipe. http://www.speedpartsrus.com/
