I have a 91 talon tsi awd and about a month ago I upgraded to a super 16g from hahn racecraft. I was installing a new intake today when I noticed that the first row of compressor fan blades were damaged . Two of them were broken in half and the rest were chipped. The turbo seems to run fine though. I know this is not good at all anyone have any ideas? My friend has a 16g turbo that needs to be rebuilt he said I can have the compressor fan of it will this work?

You're turbo can't be running fine with those chipped blades. If your friend has a similar sized 16g then the turbines will swap right in, better get someone else to do it though, it has to be balanced after reassembly. I attempted to do it myself, only to have the turbine incorrectly seated & scored up the walls on the housing.

Who would you take the turbo to that can be able to dismantle it and install the new compressor fan?

Judging by some of the various prices I've seen, you are sometimes better off picking up a new turbo to begin with. Check out www.Slowboyracing.com (http://www.Slowboyracing.com). He's got 16g's for 599$ I think right now.

I took apart my friends 16g and the compressor turbine is in perfect condition I am wondering about installing it now. You were talking about rebalancing it. Would I be able to do it myself? Is there a tool for this or is it impossible without knowing exactly how to do it?

To get it rebalanced correctly, the shop has to put it on an expensive lathe(spins fast in a horizontal pitch), then the measurements are checked for up/down & fore/aft movement or im-balancing(is that a word?).
