Window Tint Installation

I've wanted to get my windows tinted for a while now, and i was in AutoZone the other day and realized that window tint is really cheap, but is it that hard to install yourself? I wanna do it if it's not extremly hard, has anybody tinted thier ride themselves?

I'm not a proffesional or anything but have tinted many cars myself with walmart tint. Tinting is pretty simple, but If you are trying to do it yourself it may be pretty hard the first time. This is something that gets much better with practice. The best way to learn is to watch somebody else do it first. If this is not an option follow the directions exactly with the tint because they are pretty much what you do. The biggest tip I have is to keep everything as clean as possible. The cleaner the window and the tint is the better it will come out.
The last thing I tinted was my cousins truck and that has been the best I have done so far. It wasnt perfect but if you have never tinted you would not be able to see the imperfections. This cost us about $25. My friend recently had his truck done for $140, and I thought since he brought it to a proffesional the job would be perfect. I was wrong though because my tint job and the professional one were pretty much identical, both had imperfections. My cousing saved $120 by haveing me do it for him.
Another good thing about doing it yourself is that you can put on darker tint than the shops will.

Another thing i just remebered that the rear windows are wicked hard to do, unless they are flat like in a truck or like my brothers caddy. In most cases rear car windows will come out bad because of the curved shape. You actually have to use sections of tint instead of one big sheet like the rest of the windows. I would recommend doing the rest of the car yourself and bringing the rear to a proffesional, that would save a lot of money. I have noticed taht everytime I do a rear window it comes out better than before but still not as good as most people would like.

Just buy one roll of tint, I'm sure you can find some very good directoins online, and do one window of your car. If it comes out terrible, just peel it off, razorblade the glue stuff, and you are only out $10. Its worth the $10 to see if you can save $100 or more.

Like I said before rear windows are hard to do becuase of the curve and if you dont feel up to it bring it to a proffesional. But if you clean the window with a srubby thing (i dont know the real name) instead of a razorblade you wont cut any of the lines.

Cleaning is not the problem. What if you do a shitty job and want to remove it? Thats the problem for rear defrost windows.

Start off by trying to tint the top half of your windshield - see how that goes then try a full side window.

I see your point now. I did do my rear window and when I got it inspected they made me rip it off. I cut one defroster line getting the crap off of it. I just did it over and the next year they didnt even say anything about it.

This was a couple years ago when I did my rear window so I forgot this. After I tried the razor blade and that didnt work I switced over to the scrubby thing and that worked fine. It didnt cut the lines at all. Of course it will take longer, but if thats waht you gotta do to get the stuff off without killing your lines...

u gotta shrink the tint to fit the contours of the window with a heat gun, just try it an see how it comes out if u fuck up ohh well. try again
