yea so i ran my car using a gtech today in sacramento after clubcivics meet (pics later) and that was my best time.

Run #1: 17.83 @ 81.5
Run #2: 16.92 @ 83.2
Run #3: 17.5 @ cant remember
Run #4: 17.2 @ cant remember

I would have ran it more but my clutch was smelling like shit at that point ... so maybe next time.

Pros:
had the system out
im only .4 seconds behind fellow af member 91ef3zc who ran a 16.4 with his sohc zc in a si hatch and mpfi
i was able to break the 17 second barrier

cons:
fucked up clutch
3/4 tank of gas weighing me down
engine is burning oil
running dpfi

Information:
91 civic lx 4 door
sohc zc swap
short ram intake
high flow cat
performance muffler
bosch premium wires and plugs

and before anyone decides to be a dumbass and say a gtech aint accurate ... read this:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=130791

"G-TECH/Pro is a very accurate machine, and the trap speed result that you get from the G-TECH/Pro is actually more accurate than the racetrack. Reason is that the racetrack averages your speed over a 60 feet stretch between two beams and G-TECH/Pro measures your speed at the exact 1/4 mile point."

Melt, those are pathetic times bro... I am not talkin shmack on your car, im talkin shmack on your driving skills. Bring that car and Gtec over to my pad and I'll teach you a thing or two without destroying your clutch (Sounds like too late) I managed a 15.8 in my hatch when I had interior and the d16a6... When I pulled the A6 I found out something realy cool! I never ran on four pistons! the number four injector never fired and I pulled a 15.8 on three cylinders.
Case in point. :evillol:

Uhmm riiiiiiiiight. 15.8 on a car heavier than the CRX's which also had an A6. And Gtec? C'mon guys.... may as well use a stop watch.

The thing that seems like the biggest problem with a GTECH being acurate is, don't you have to enter the wieght of your car? Thats a constant variable, and your guess could easily be off and it would throw the whole idea out the window.

My gtech should be coming today so when I go back home in a couple weeks I'll throw my times up here to compare.
Somebody did have a link here that had the gtech for sale for $50, on ebay they are also $50 plus $6 shipping.
As for being accurate, I looked at some sites where people have tested them, and it seems to be pretty accurate, but of course you need to know the exact weight of your car for it to be as accurae as possible. It seems like it will be fun to use though.
But heres my plan, I bought it for $50, and all these little ricers at my brothers high school already want to rent it for $10 a day before I even have the thing. This means that 5 people rent it, I get my money back, and have a free gtech.

my buddy runs a mercury capri, the old mustang based one, and without nitrous it runs 13 flat, and with a 150 shot runs 11s, he used my GTECH at the track, so while he was getting GTECH times, he also got a printout from the track. every single run on the track was within .1 of the GTECH times. i trust it a whole lot for doing basic tests, although a professional racer might not find it accurate enough

Yea, 15.8 on three cylinders... Did I say it was stock?

Melt
09-29-2003, 11:34 AM
you only have to enter the cars weight to get the hp ratings ... not the 1/4.

Im willing to bet seth would be able to run a better time in my car than i did ... i aint the greatest drag driver im willing to admit.

And i messed up my clutch bad last week ... so it isnt like my runs this time did all the messing up.

Hehe, thats cool man... I remember the first time I tried to race someone off the line... LOL! Reved up to like 6 grand and just droped the clutch.... After a second I relaized that wasnt my tires that was smoking and my clutch never felt right after that.

The 15.8 @ 94.2 I ran I had an AEM cold air intake Pace setter header and a custom exaust with a catco hi flow cat.
Using a 1/4 tank of 76's 100 Octane race fuel and two cups of pure liquid nitro methane. The car also had an act clutch and the crap apc strut bars I own were on it. I did have the back seat out at the time which can account for maybe a whole I dunno 35 lbs or so? My car is a DX as well so its pretty light from the factory. I know the #4 never fired cause I riped that engine apart and the #4 head and cylinder were CLEAN, as in never used due to the #4 injector being improperly wired (My fault) It also apeared to have a set of D16A1/ZC pistons in it that were improperly instaled, the guy who rebuilt it also used the wrong size main bearings so the crank had a bit of play. If you have a hard time believing this then iether you have never ran your car or you just suck horably at driving. :smokin:

i am in love with the gtech now after using it ... you can do the shit anywhere. If i had money id probably get one. Then again id probably always be tryin to better myself and id beat on my car more than i do now and most likely get a ticket.

I personaly am not to fond of the G-tech systems... If you upgrade your ignitiong to an MSD or Crain then it throws it way the fuck off... It will read like 7000 rps at idle... At least jimmy's did when he tried to use it on his old RX7.

My gtech doesnt have tach on it...is that the new version?

HONDABOUND, you say you ran 15.8 stock, then you list a bunch of mods to it...doesnt sound stock to me.

gsf1200m
09-29-2003, 07:46 PM
Ok sorry, now i get it, you were saying that it wasnt stock, but it is possible to take it either way when you read it.

LoL, yea that was sarcasm man... You usualy use it when people are talking shit...
It also looks like the head was ported or something... Its realy smooth, thats why I think its been ported. Or it could have been a realy good casting over at honda. :grinno:

Ya, I just read it quick and thought you were bragging that your car ran a 15.8 on 3 cylinders, I realized you were being sarcastic when I read it over again.

oh ok so you were bsing about the 15.8 adn the 3 cylinder thing.

because i thought u were being serious i mean first 15.8 at 94.2 is really slow, 94.2 trap would be in the 14s, and since you never said u had traction problems or misshift which you would have said if you did to make every think u would have went faster. u must have ran a 15.8 perfect driving, which if u did a 15.8 at 94.2 you are the worst driver ever but you were claiming to be the best driver. especially wehn u say u had interior but then in the next post you say you stripped it out. but its all good because you were being sarcastic yeah, my bad

and i do drag race alot which is why i know alot about it

i cant speak on the new gtech...but i didnt like the old one too much..

i had a hard time gettin consistant numbers from it...about as much trouble as i had finding 1/4 mile of perfectly flat road in eastern pa.

as for my stock a6, the best track time so far is a 16.3 with I/H/leaky thermal exhaust and clutchmasters stage 2. So you're number isnt too shabby melt, especially if you think your clutch is starting to fade.

the road accordztech took me out to owned me ... it was a short distance away from sacramento, ca which is where we had the meet. I was able to stop ... poisiton the shit so it was flat ... and get about 4 good runs in ... i would have done more if my shit didnt smell horrible by then.
