O/T:Whats wrong with your car?

I would like to know what kinds of problems everyones car has, I'm just curious.

I have a leaking oil pan gasket, split CV boot, Clicking CV joint, broken wire to my temp. gauge, torn seat and carpet, vibration in steering wheel, leaky hatch, pops out of second gear and clutch in such bad shape, the car wont move.

Man, I need a new car.

it does not have a cup holder

Oil pan is in need of replacement, steering gearbox is shot, tires are wearing bad on the inside (needs an alignment), rotors are warped, alarm is starting to act up, power door locks aren't working 100%, and the biggest problem of all; it's not fast enough :evillol:

Its got a surging idle right now because I have no idea where to source a fast idle control valve for a 1st gen B16. AND, 3 gear grinds like a mo-fo.

Currently, I think my alternator is fuxored. CEL kept coming on while driving around, and couldn't figure out why. One time, just ignored it and kept driving, ended up frying my ignition coil. Put a new one in, and kept having same problem with CEL, had to pull over and let the car sit for about 10 minutes, and then it was good to go for another 10 miles or so. Finally got off my ass and put in the MSD system that I bought a year ago, hoping that would fix the problem, but it didn't. I'm led to believe that it is a grounding problem, but I've checked every ground I can think of, and still have the problem, although, lately, instead of the CEL, my battery light flashes from time to time, and it sounds like the alternator is making some funny noises, so I think that's what it is... just too broke to get it fixed right now.

That's about it right now... my sunroof switch was fucked up for a while, but seems to have fixed itself... ?

Oh yeah, and my tranny grinds in just about every gear unless I'm really carefull (and mostly then too)... think the synchro's are shot, or I need to change the fluid, but I can't get the fucking fill bolt off... Plus, I'm too lazy right now to really work on it...

Car won't pass emmissions either. Probably need a new O2 sensor.

My CRX is a different story though. Won't run very long, especially if I give it any gas, it'll die. Plus it overheats like a mofo. a work in progress though.

I know how you feel, my car was never fast enough either.

Anyway that makes me feel a lot better, I always feel like I'm the only one with a messed up car. I think Im gonna sell mine though, $500 as is.

If your hatch leaks try and clean out any dirt and shyte that is in there. Open it up and with a wet cloth try and clean around the rubber. After you clean it spray on some silicon(sp?) spray. It worked for my leak. I actually just did that today!

Now for things wrong with my car. Well some guy hit me 2 weeks after I got it so now it has nice dents all down the right side. My car burns some oil. There are a few rust spots, but they are getting fixed when I get the dents fixed. car smells like gas after I fill it up, but only for a little while, then it goes away. There is probly more, but I can't think of anymore at the time.

My baby does not have an F20C with twin turbos and 150 direct port shot of NOS... That D15B2 just does not want to give me an excuse for a swap :D. I guess that's not all that bad since I'll get more engine for my money when it does go... These 4th gen civics are ironclad if maintained properly and parts are becoming easy to find in the junkyard (except for the F- body that will rust easily when in contact with salt) The japanese assembled SE does seem to be somewhat more reliable than the rest though..... Just finished with all the rust and painted the car some two weeks ago. The main relay had to be changed, otherwise everything else works.

Do not bother flaming me as I'll likely end up swapping into some high mileage 6th gen civic. It sucks to not have a decent work area :(.

well other than the fact that i havent driven my crx since last Novemeber, have no time to rebuild my b16 and no money to bring it to a shop to have them finish it up, nothings wrong with it.

where can i start? how abotu with hte most current, a non running transmission. whats wrong exactally i don't know but it was running with no fluid, so its probably locked up. wish i knew how to fix it myself, but i'm just looking for a new tranny.
hadda rebuild and then replace tghe engine from suckin in water.
some body damage from when my brother ran into an Accord. messed up front suspension from hitting a curb, may just be an alignment problem.
weather stripping it gone from the windows so it leaks and bangs around

So far there is the rims issue,
the car needs paint and a new bodie kit and some bodie work (Not too extensive)...
I need to finish pealing out the rest of the interior
need to get some nice seats going on, TWO OF THEM!
I need a baterie relocation kit,
I need a custom dash and doors panels (Carbon fiber)
I need a new hood (Carbon Fiber)
Oh, thats right, I got the dx with only ONE mirror... That fucking sucks dammit! :eek7:
I need a PM6 ecu box so I can use my kick plate again.
I need a set of TEIN struts/springs and chunk the Skunk2 coilover that are on there.
I need a new front window and I want the FAL rear windows.
I want one onf those fluidine radiators with the FAL fans.
New strut bars are in order cause I got the POS APC one right now (Crap!)
I need a bumper suport with that new bodie kit so it dont "Sag like gramas titties" like my current WW bumper.
I need some more performance parts but I am not going there, that couls take forever!
Anyway, I am sure I'll be back in here with some more list once I get the car running this week.

Oh yea, I need a set of Fujitsubo Legalis headers imported, a Thermal R&D and a hi flow cat.
Also looking at importing one of those high dollar intakes.

Needs new left front fender - slightly rusted at body mount
1 cv boots starting to crack
Could use some new street tires
Right rear has tiny rust spot
Driver seat slightly worn(I can't see it while I'm in the car so I dont really care)
Winshield has some small chips

just replaced the radiator last week because it was cracked.

O/T I had to drive a Ford Expedition to the shop(total 70 miles) the other day and personally I'd rather drive my civic than that big ass thing - the ride was shitty as hell

Hatch struts leak so boot thingy doesn't stay up.
Body-Kit has damage from bastard truck tyre.
My turbo motor doesn't go in for another month and a half.

lets start with the body

1. dent hood cause prev owner rearened a guy hauling wood, so lots of rust
2. driverside fender, something hit it near door so its all rusted and collapsed in
3. passenger side fender, same wood accident, wood slide right accross it leaving a fat scratch mark again more rust
4. driversside door, same from 2 somthing hit it smashed in door near fender
5. front bumper hanging loose because of wood accident with paint cracking and scratch up bad
6. left bumper signal light broken, dont konw what happen there
7. rear bumper paint all cracked, half of it gone already
8. windshield, prev owner instaleld new windshield, installer did shitty job so windshiel leaks
9. drivers side window leak water
10. the paint is all gone, has that thing where the paint is like gone, all sun. i dont even konw hwo to describe it
11. all cv boots ripped, dont konw how long she drove it like taht
12. rotors all grinded in because she hit the rivets on brake pads
13. engien broken timing belt, no compression on 2 cylinders, btu no valve is stuck open
14. well tranny, autally dont konw how the tranny is, probably the only good thing on the car.
15. engine needs full tune up, plus water pump ( reason why belt broke)
16. no readio prev owner took radio and cut the radio wiring harness off.
17. gotta get rid of the damn cockaroaches livving in there, and spiders.
18. i check out the bushing, almost every bushing i saw if cracked and no good.

thats all i can think of right now, i know theres more im jsut forgeting

oh you wanna talk about the car not runnin. hmm i bought my car in march 01 drove it around for couple months, in may 01 timing belt broke and my car hasnt seen the road since, so its been sitting for about 2 1/2 years.

why u might ask, well first right after i broke my timing belt, i did compression test found out 2 cylinders had no compresion so i figure bent valves. but my friend tells me he just wrecked his ls crx and eh would sell me the ls, told me his friend owned a tow truck and he could get it to my house for really cheap. 1 year later he tells em oh i towed ti to my friends hosue cause he wants the shell. 6 months later in december 02 i finally get the motor, but of course im in school so i gotta wait till summer to install it. so june of 03 i finally install the mtoro, but come to find out he drovbe it with no oil, whole bottom end no good. called around for another stock motor but everytime it never works out so finally we come to now 9/03 with me taking my stock motor apart to find out whats wrong because when i took the head off, i had no bent valves. so my car is sitting here for 2 1/2 years because i cant afford to buy an expensive mtor because i go to college and only work part tiem and all my money is going to pay for my college because i cant rely on good ol dad for any money.

i got some clinking sound everytime i take off and stop, and its not the axels cause i replaced em
THEN the damn idle is at like 1600 unless i rev it up to like 5 grand then it drops down, an i replaced all the vacuume lines

it wont start.... cranks but no spark... gets fuel but no spark.... and my paint is peelin off the front end, also it could be a lot faster...

way too slow!!! burns oil like a mofo and its loud....i also just over heated that bitch (not too bad) cuz i blew up one of them small coolent lines that go into the intake manifold...little riging fixed that right up...lol

Wow old thread, welllll my car started misfiring yesterday, pretty bad when it's cold. RPM's drop about 500 when it "pops". That could be a bent valve right? I also need alignment, shocks, and paint.

It was me... the new guy... i got my main issue fixed with my car... at least it runs now... my dash lights dont work when its cold outside... my ac is leakin pretty bad and my front speakers are blown.... gawd i love my civic tho

A/C ...what A/C...it only worked for about ....30 sec in the whole time i had the car and it went ...BOOOMM!!!

missing corner light...i was "blazing" down the highway 90+ (all out...lol) and i hear crack (plastic sound) and this yellow shit flying in the wind hanging by the wires....it blew off b4 i could stop and got ran over...

ooh yea i forgot about my corner light.... i was drivin to work one morning and there was major glare cause the film that builds up on my windshield cause the ac is messed up and i tapped the rearend of the old junker pickup in front of me... the guy was really cool about it cause it didnt hurt his crapheap but it destroyed my right blinker..... my passenger side seatbelt doesnt slide... anyone know how to disable the warning light and buzzer that goes off if you just unplug the stupid belt??? whoever designed motorized seatbelts should be shot.

The person that had it before me wrecked the front end, and I couldn't tell that the whole front radiator support was bent and jb-welded back together 'cause I had never seen a honda engine before and really didn't know what I was looking at. :rolleyes:

So my headlight cavity's are all mangled and my lights point in crazy directions, and the car runs rich, I have no a/c, I have an exaust leak somewhere so I get this lovely exaust smell going down the highway all day long, and I think my clutch isn't as great as it used to be. Other than that it runs pretty good! I'm about to get the radiator support fixed and all the body work taken care of.

hmm lets see my ignition system is shit, won't spark... body has the usual rust, left fender is dented and without a marker light after the back corner of a truck got in my way :( otherwise the car was and still is very well maintained so all the mechanical stuff runs great... just won't start because of some stupid electrical problem in/near the dizzy.

i had the same kinda problem for the last two weeks... the car would crank and wouldnt start... check your distributer cap and if thats ok check your dizzy coil... make sure your dizzy could is actually bad tho if you replace it... i replaced mine and found out the origional wasnt bad.... couldnt return it... cost me 80 bucks....

My car is now sputtering and coughing at me for some reason... i have been tinkering with the dizzy a lot so im gunna open it back up and make sure its all hooked up right... i just installed a little buzzer for the headlights... works awsome... only 3.50... i would suggest it to anyone with a civic

My dam car idles at 6k rpm,has a coolant leak somewhere,needs new valve cover gasket,needs a drivers sode fender and i think it needs a new dizzy.

The drivers side door and front fender have a crease where I got hit. There is a hole in the carpet where my foot sits while driving, and the glovebox broke under the weight of $37.42 in loose change. Other than that she's in top mechanical condition. :)

Oh, and this new motor tops out at 108mph, where as my old motor would get to 112 (118 if I was going down a hill ;) )

Go to the dealer (Honda) and they fixed mine for free... I think its under the life-time warranty shit...BTW thats for the seatbelt .

Need a new stereo since mine was stolen, rear speakers dont work even when they werent stolen so i think its the wiring, the plastic on the interior of the hatch has broken off at the bolt and rattles like a mofo as well as lets light in from somewhere, the passenger door rattles when im idling or driving very noisy without a stereo to hide it, i have three matched tires and one unmatched tire so i have some tire drag which causes my alignment to get funny, i think i have a bent frame to add to the funny alignment issues, headlights arent aligned properly, rear tail light is out, corner lights have no bulbs, my washer fluid container has a hole and leaks out anything i put in there, need a new hatch because of my mysterious square dent, finish stripping the nastyness from my steelies, doesnt need it but couldnt hurt to repaint my car, the driver side black plastic door protector is gone, i could use a tach so i can see what kinda rpms im getting on my car, one of my temp sensors is friend cause i cant get it to warm up properly and freeway speeds put me below the mark which causes me to start the warm up cycle again, it could probly use a bit of tranny work but its an auto so ill never do a damn thing to it until it breaks, the car vibrates like a "magic fingers" bed in gear and in neutral so that could use some problem solving,

just bring it to honda and they will fix it. i dont think it matters how many people had the car before you. i know im not the first or even 3rd to have the car... it is a safety problem ..thats what they told me ... and i found out about the free replacement here on AF. do a quick search or just drop in to honda if you can and see what that dealer says..

its kinda funny my dash lights didnt work till i took out the dash to see if a light was blown (it used to worke like yours ..on bump... off) ... they were all good. put it back together after some cleaning and they work...lol...magic

dropped valve into piston, new pistons are on back order.

traction bars are 2 weeks late, cant mount radiator.

broken 5th/reverse shift fork discovered during LSD install.

thanks ill bring it to honda as soon as i get it back from the shop...... i had to bring it to a shop today cause it started having the same problem it had before i replaced the dizzy cap and rotor.... im fed up with this crap.... i have no way to pay for it but who knows....

Positive battery terminal is so corroded it ate right thru the cable.... My automatic seatbelts wont work because the fuse setup was corroded away to basically nothing.... Im thinking i might be able to jury rig something to work

Clutch is dead, front right is totally bald from missalignment, temp sensor wire got wired now dosent work, o2 sensor wire bad, rear hatch struts dont work, back bumper is dinged alittle, front windshield washers dont work, rear defroster dosent work, no heater at all, grinds into second when warm, struts and shocks squeek really bad, err more stuff too cant think of it right now.

PS did i mention the heater dosent work, its freakin cold outside and my shift knob is a tenzo aluminum one.
