Hi!
I have a '99 silverado 4x4 that seems to be giving some trouble with the antilock brakes. They seem to kick in when not necessary to.Example:While driving in town, moving slowly from traffic light to traffic light at low speeds[10kph or less],when the brakes are applied to come to stop the anlilock system cuts in.

I had the brakes checked yesterday and the rear pads were replaced. All other brake parts were o.k.

Any one have this problem and can anyone tell me what the trouble may be?

Thanks; Anran

Most likely you have a wheel speed sensor that is dropping out at low speeds. This tricks the ABS module into thinking that one tire is in a skid and activates an ABS event.
It may not be enough of a drop to activate the ABS light to come on and store a code.
You can check the resistance of your WSS and see if one is out of specs. The resistance should be between 1000 and 1400 ohms. Any WSS that reads outside of that, I would suspect is the one that is causing your problem.

Thanks GMMERLIN.

I'll check into that.
