Idle?

Everytime I come to a stop or push in the clutch and let the engine go all the way down to idle the rpm's drop so low that the car almost stalls but then after a little struggle it pops back up to usually around 500..sometimes closer to 800. A few times the tach droped all the way down, i thought the engine had died..any ideas as to what this could be?

Two sugestions, one tighten up the throttle cable abit. Two there is a little flat head skrew on the throttle bodie you can use to adjust idle speed.
Start with that. :sunglasse

Go read what I posted in the FAQ.
BTW - do NOT set your idle with the throttle cable. It is ment to have the tiniest bit of slack in it - as Hondabond suggested, try the idle screw - but it's more likely the units that dynamically regulate idle itself
