I just bought a 2003 GTi Vr6. I was wondering if anybody has a problem with the check engine light coming on. This can apply to any year GTI or valkswagen in general. I've heard from people who have owned Vw's that the check engine light is a common problem in volkswagens. Is this true? In my instance it has to do with the emissions on the car. Any feedback is appreciated.

If you can find out from someone other than a dealer I would suggest it. My friend had a mazda 626 that did that and finally when she took it in to find out what problem was they had her pay for something stupid like a fuel pump (can't remember exactly) and it ended up happening again with in the week!
