accel plug wires on zc

I just bought a set of 300 Accel spark plug wires for my zc engine. I ordered the ones for a 89 teg. These are the correct ones I think. But they do not fit all the way down into the cylinder. They won't go down far enough to snap onto the spark plugs. Was wondering if anyone else has had experience with aftermarket plug wires for the dohc zc engine.
