What the correct steps to sand a car body before prime? just pick up the sand paper and sand directly the body or what?

FAQ does not explain how to sand, it explains when to sand
At least I did not found it. But can you help me at all saying where to look?

I'll give you an example, where you need and extensive sanding to prepare a body. You can omit a few steps, if the gap along the seam line isn't so big.

* Brush paint the primer along the seam line to highlight the gap.
* Eliminate the gap along the seam line with a file. Primer helps you know how much you are filing.
* Brush paint the primer again to fill the big scratches left by the file.
* Sand the area with 600-1200 (your choice) grit sand paper.
* Brush paint the primer to fill the small scratches left by the sand paper.
* Sand the area with 1200-2000 (your choice) grit sand paper.

Sand the entire body with 1200-2000 (your choice) grit sand paper to find the sink mark, and fix it if necessary. This also helps primer grab the plastic well.

Spray paint the primer evenly, and the body is ready.
