How to use acrylic paints? Is there any special preparation or just open the can and paint directly into the kit?

Acrylics don't really look good when you brush them on. Otherwise, you just paint it right on from the can, after you primer it.

Are you airbrushing or handbrushing? Handbrushing you can use it straight out of the bottle. Airbrushing requires thinning of the paint.

If you are handbrushing, and using water-based acrylic paints, such as Tamiya, you have to shake it first to mix the water with the paint.

This is all probably in the FAQ, but I'll add my $.02..

- if you're brush painting, they can go on right out of the jar. However you might find that they go on a little smoother if you just add a tiny bit of thinner (ie. about 10%).
- if you're airbrushing, they must be thinned with either the manufacturer's thinner (likely sold at the same place you bought the paint) or with something like alcohol, windex, etc. You'll have to experiment with the ratios, but anything from 10% to 50% thinner could be used.

I found brush painting a lot easier with the part primered a bit.

Primering usually makes the acrylic adhere better when air brushing. :)

Warm the paint in hot water also to help it flow better when brushing
