Rx-3 model?

Well I came across this model in a few hobby shops, and because I love Rx3s, i thought I'd investigate it, see maybe if I'd buy it one day once I got started...

thats a site I found on the model.... Anyone do this before? Seen from the pics it looks like the entire shell is one piece.
So yeah, pretty much all I want to know is if anyone has built it before, and how it was. possible to make into a street rx3?

What's in the box is pretty much represented by his buildup. It's not 100% accurate in some details, the body is all one piece, so a stock buildup would require a ton of work. The interior won't be very detailed. RX-3 kits were made in the 70's when they were new, so they definitely aren't up to today's standards.

I have an Otaki RX-3 kit, looks very similar to the Nichimo. Some aspects look better (roofline, pillars, rivets around flares), some aren't great (the basic, shallow interior because of the electric motor). The Nichimo looks a little easier to convert to stock than the Otaki. But I've never seen an RX-3 kit that's done nearly as well as never kits. :icon16:

bummer. I wonder why Tamiya won't make one. It was the most sold Mazda of its time (of all time?) and has gotten a cult status among people. Not to mention it is a rotar :naughty:

What is an RX-3? I've heard of RX-7 and RX-8 but not 3. Is that a Miata or MX-5? :screwy: Japanese only car, I'm guessing....

RX's started in the 60's. The Cosmo Sport (there's a Hasegawa kit of it) was Mazda's first production rotary, then followed by a small coupe called the R100. After the R100, they had the RX-2, then RX-3, then RX-4 (first use of the larger 13B engine, I owned one in the late 70's), then the RX-5/Cosmo. I don't think there was any RX-6, unless that was considered the REPU, the rotary pickup truck, then we had the RX-7's etc. I have ridden in every single RX model made, including a Cosmo Sport...pretty weird being a passenger on the "wrong" side of the car! It had right hand drive, owned by somewhat famous rotary racer named Jim Downing. The Cosmo Sport was not imported to the US, but the others were, but Mazdas were only available on the west coast and in the deep south for many years.

RX stands for rotary power.

rx3 is the road rage weapon :D
one of the easiest to tune cars for drag races. a simple stripped car, with a 13b and a reasonably large turbo will give you easy 12/13s...
