my mazdaspeed protege died on me for the 4th time in less than 30 days, and the dealership tested on another msp and it died the same way. it turns out that you can't run the raido, a/c, and lights at the same time without it stalling. the dealership is calling the engineers to come to ga and take a look at the msp's. so, like i said before mazdaspeed sucks !!!

You got a lemon, PERIOD. Stop spreading this BS that all msp's have this problem. If you had any sense at all, you would have traded it for a new one, or let it be fixed. Do a little research and you will find that countless others have owned this car since dec 02 without this problem. Really man, it's a great car. Especially compared to an S-10:rolleyes:

explain to me why the tech from cali had to come to ga and test 3 other msp's and they all died the same way within a 15 minute period. ALL msp's are mechanically, right ? so i got the only one in the world with a f***ed up alternator and whole electrical system?

In the almost year now that I have owned this car, I have yet to hear of anyone else with this problem, so yes, as far as I know, you are the only one that got one with this problem. There have been issues with the car's rear suspension making a clunking noise when going over speedbumps, and the cars PCM was programmed to run off the chart rich, causing some stumbling or hesitating issues under WOT. Other than that, any other problems are not widespread enough to be classified as an issue with ALL of the cars. Every make and model of car has its problems, especially limited edition first run cars. I am not saying that your car didn't have issues, but really, I have been on msprotege.com since may, and never heard any news of this from any of the 500 or more msp owners.

my family has owned 4 mazdas in the past 10 years or so and they have been the most trouble free cars we have had. an MPV we had made it to 220,000 miles before we got rid of it and it was still running well, we got a Miata that had 163,000 miles on it and it was also running just fine, I bought my miata with just over 100,000 miles on it and it runs great, my dad bought a miata with just under 100,000 miles on it and we had to put in a 1st gear shift fork and new ignition coils... but for a car that is over 100k and that is all it has needed besides basic regular maintenence? you can hardly beat that!
who cares how long your friends have kept their cars? honestly that says nothing. most people do get rid of cars every few years.
and as for your s10... good luck buddy cause if you think mazda has issues you're in for a big surprise with your chevy. those things burn through alternators like no other. my family has not has a GM product yet that has not needed a new alternator. the mazdas? none of them have needed one. not even the MPV with 220,000 miles. and as for other electronics, GM is less reliable by far.
in short, I agree with 505zoom, you got a lemon... get over it and go about your business

honestly i have no idea how people can say the speed sucks. Right now i have a 2003.5 in titanium and i drives much better then my spec v(2003) that i recently had, all nissans nowadays have a habbit of pulling to the right because of too much torque but my speed drives so nicely i cant even believe it, and it sounds alot better too. so maybe the reason your having problems with yours is because of the fact that it might be a lemon and thats about all i can think of.

LMAO...a mazda to a chevy...i think they call that "reverse evolution" :grinno:
i went from a 88' S-10 to a 2000 protege in a year, and then bought a 96 RX-7.
I hope for your sake the S-10 has the gas tank recall fixed. did you hear about that? you might find out if you ever get t-boned :evillol:

My mazdaspeed 2003 1/2 also dies on me. Probably 10 times since I got it last October. The last time it caused a crash that resulted in 11,000 damage. It has been in the shop for 8 weeks now. I am suposed to pick it up tomorrow. I am not sure I want it back. They do not know what is causing it. If you have more info about this, please email me at [email protected].

Yeah I have been on MSProtege.com for a long time now and this problem is few and far between. If mine did this even once however, I would def not drive it again until something was done about it. I hope everything goes well in your buy-back, but don't think this is a widespread issue....My Speed Rules.
