Dash cluster changeout

Hello,
I have bought anouther chevelle/malibu and was wondering, has anyone out there ever changed out the malibu dash with a SS dash. I know the pad is different but how hard it the wiring to do? The only reason I ask is the previous owner spent some money on a hood and emblems to make it look like an SS. But the dash is not.

Thanks, Jason

I have never done it before but I have seen it on a couple other Malibus. As long as you purchase the harness I wouldn't think it should be too hard. A bit time consuming maybe but possible.

I am in the process of doing this mod. to my elcamino and it is a pain in the rear trying to find info. I am 95 percent done and if you wish to ask ? feel free to. I am trying to find info on where to hook the ground that goes to the cluster, the munuals are very vague and I need direction.

The ground can hook just about anywhere there is metal. Just find a bolt hooks to the body that is near the ground wire. Good luck. Let me know how it went.

They actually have more in their catalog than they show on their site. You can probably build an entire car from just the parts they have. Anyway...here are 3 more.

and

and

I have ordered from all of them. I like OPG best though.

I was thinking about taking the panal that houses the orginal malibu gauges (speedo, fuel, clock) and making a new flat panal where i can but some Autometer gauges. I was looking at doing the ss conversion but it was too expensive. Havent looked into it very deeply though, what do you guys think?

You should have room under the dash or on the pillar where you can mount any extra guages you might want. I don't know if I would start messing with the original stuff if it is still working and in good condition.
