Has anyone built a kit from this manufacturer before? If so how do their products compare with those of Studio 27??

Any insights will be very welcome, thanks.

I've built 1 AMD kit. I have a couple more on the shelf. The kit quality is excellent. On par with Studio 27. Their subjects usually have a Brazilian connection, seeing as they are based in Brazil. Their offerings have been improving in quality as well. There instructions are better, they use what look to be white metal clones of tamiya plastic engine parts. All the paint codes are in Tamiya code, which is nice. They also provide excellent reference material depicting the car at different events. Not cheap, on par with S27 kits in the $120-$150 range. The owner is a great guy I have helped with some reference stuff. He is customer oriented and if contacted would bend over backwards to ensure your happy. As with the resin and white metal kits from S27 the skill level can be a bit more challenging. Anything else specific just ask......

You want to compare Studio 27 to AMT ???

it's like talking about Professional Hockey team and some Peewee team..

I made a couple of AMT kit, and unless you really want this kit, avoid them.

I made a couple of AMT kit, and unless you really want this kit, avoid them.AMD is a Brizilian manufacturer of resin kits. They are very similar to Studio 27 kits. In some cases the kits are very much alike in all respects. For example the F1 2003 Ga kit from AMD includes the winglets as vac formed parts while the S27 kit includes them in white metal. I prefer the white metal for durability while others prefer the thin vac formed parts. It is more a question of which kit you like better than which is better.

Thanks for the replies guys.

It's just that I've seen a Ferrari 2003 GA going for less than a Studio 27 offering and I thought I may give them a go. However, I do wish Tamiya was making the 2003 GA instead.

Ditto freakray, AMD was what I meant. The glue fumes haven't got to me...yet! :silly:

AMD is good. Especially the recent kits are better equal or better than S27.
As for F2003-GA, I have one in progress, and it's going effortlessly.
Vacuum form barge board and curled up body parts are much easier to work with than PE or metal.

AMD's F2003-GA kit contains F1 Specialties Perfect Parts seat belt set, and this is a great plus compared to S27. AMD's decal is accurate almost all the time, but S27 is known to make mistakes.

Some S27 kits are stunningly good, but some are poor, and I think it depends on who makes the master.

Also, hobby shop GT posted that S27's F2003-GA is so poorly made, that a commissioned modeler never wants to make another.

Thanks for the insight into the AMD kit Hiro. I think my mind is made up and will go for one. The vacuum formed bargeboards sound interesting, would you have any photos of them?

Almost finished applying decals. Also suspension parts were covered with Scalemotorsport carbon fiber decals.

After this, I'll apply clear coat, wait for a week or so, then sand and polish.
