I'm wanting to have a good system in my car and I want EVERYONE'S opinions. I'm wanting two 12" subs...so I want everyone's recommendation on good 12" subs and then everyone's recommendation on an amp to push those two subs. Now when I say good subs I don't want everyone to says the kicker solobarics, I want some good subs without spending a fuckload (I want to spend about 1500.00 on subs, amps, cd reciever, componet speakers)
Thanks in advance
Brian

I've got another question...if I want to build a custom fiberglass box for 2 12" how would I go about making sure there is enough air in the box?

OK, well, I am going to tell you what I would recommend...
Sub: One Adire audio 12" Brahma or 2 Adire audio Shivas http://www.adireaudio.com/mobile_audio/drivers/brahma_series.htm http://www.adireaudio.com/mobile_audio/drivers/shiva.htm
Amp for Sub/Subs: JBL BP1200.1 http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/209
Reciever: Alpine CDA-9813 (Plays MP3's, very very nice to have, fit like 150+ songs on one disk) http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1301
Comp. Speakers: Infiniti Kappa Perfect or Infinity Reference (Little cheaper, still very nice) http://www.ikesound.com/category-category_id/139
Amp for Comp: Clarion APX401.4 http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/clarion_amplifiers.html
Well, Thats my opinion...

How does this look? (not knocking your system I am just a fan of audiobahn and was wondering what ya'll thought...and then I saw these at ikesound.com)
How come Ikesound.com are so cheap? is there anything wrong or are the products refurbished or something?
Two of these
http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1563
Two of these
http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/248
That way I'd be putting 1200 watts to each sub at 2 ohm

Personally, I dont like Audiobahn, I have had some experience with some Bahn in the past. I have the Adire Shivas now, and I like them so much better. Bahn is good if all you want is LOUD/CHEAP stuff and they crave unnessesary amounts of power. But for a quality sounding system I would stay with the Adire stuff. The one Brahma would kick the poo out of the Bahn... IMO
Oh, and Ike, yeah, they are one of the best places on-line to buy from. Nothin wrong with products, I buy stuff from there. The only thing is, it takes a little longer to get products (I think cuz they ship out only one day a week).

In my car I have 2 12" MTX8000 subs and they hit hard...i've always liked MTX and some of their new products are badass. I am pushing them with 2 500w Boss amps that arent the best in the world but they do. I also have a pioneer deh-p8500mp head unit that pushes my highs great and sounds great. I have 2 sets of polk components and they sound awesome...This is the combination i have and it works well together.

When you design your box, you need to find out to Internal Volume for each sub. Then match that volume to what your gonna build for your box, length X Width X Height. Taking into account Box Thickness, Type, and Properly sealed cracks with caulk to be leak-proof.

If you have enough room to put in a ported box, check out www.respl.com for Resonant Engineering subs. I hear they don't sound too great sealed, but if you port/vent them they can be absolutely great. You'd have to find a registered dealer for them. You could also check out www.edesignaudio.com and look at the different series of subs they have. They have a flat "diaphragm" rather than a cone, but they work just as well and can put out some great sound.
The Adire Brahma is a great recommendation too, but they are pretty expensive. Both RE and ED have cheaper subs, since they each have a couple of different lines. IMO, I'd rather have an RE or ED sub than an Adire sub that isn't a Brahma.

Also be sure to dynamat your trunk if you get a pair of 10's, which are atleast 1000 watt a piece. I saw some idiot indian guy at my school, and he had 2 12's. Poor Acura CL-Type S, everytime he bumps the bass it freaking shakes the chasis madly, like his trunk is about to pop open. It's always better to design your own box, making best of the space you have, also securing it down.
