Same thing happened on my Grand Caravan I ran a stop sign because of it. It was a good thing nothing was coming. A part in the brake system is on recall for the longest time. I went to the local Dodge dealership and luckily they took it in and fixed it for free.

Hope you fixed it by now. If not, check your master cylinder to see if it's extremly wet. Total brake failure is very unusal.

I have also personally experienced total brake failure on my '93 minivan. As one of the other respondents has said, if you push REALLY hard, the brakes are still there.
I am about to raise some hell at the dealer as this has been "fixed" once before. I'm beginning to believe that there may not be a fix (only a change to another brake system).
It has happened about a half-dozen times over the past 3 or 4 years I've owned the car. Both the ABS and the Brake light come on suddenly without warning (sometimes I'm not even touching the brake). After the lights are on, I still have a few power assisted pushes left. The really weird thing is that it continues to "fix" itself. When it does, the boost (ABS) motor runs for a good 30 seconds to get the vacuum back up.

Check all tires for any oil leak, some time break cylinder leaks and it causes total break loss. Happen to me.
ABS is a problem and it is not going away although I have fixed all the breaks.

At one point I was having issues with low brake fluid in my master cylinder, turned out to be a leaking rear wheel cylinder. The shop caught it when I was getting my front brakes done.
