These are shots of the two cars Im featuring in my junkyard diorama.
This is my first serious attempt at a realistic diorama.
What do you think of the cars so far?
Believeable?
The first car is an MPC Vintage 1985 "Royal Knight" 1/24 scale El Camino.

The Second car is a Revell 1/24 scale 1967 Plymouth GTX

Heres some more pics.
For the under carriage I mixed yellow/red/flat black and mildly drybrushed with testors steel.
Here are some more shots.

http://www.lincolnmotorsport.com/under3.jpg
Heres the fence Im building on half the groundwork. I even used my very own last Name on the sign. I made the sign in Photoshop 7.0 in a 600 dpi .jpg format. I then printed it on Kodak high gloss photo paper complete with a bass wood frame.
This sign will be TRASHED when Im done. the fence came out "OK" I guess, for my first one it was tough, took me 2.5 hours to make 16 inches?
Im going to dirty the fence up and hang junk on it and what not. It will be sweet.

Above is some good shots of the Beware Of Dog, Entrance and Trespassing signs. I made these in Photoshop 7.0. If you guys need any crazy or custom sign, I mean anything, I can do it on PS7, just name it.
Heres the third car in my junkyard.
Its another 67 GTX by Revell.
I dremeled off the front drivers fender and door as well as the trunk (Which will be getting custom made hinges and it will be posed open).
Im really rusting this one out bad!! Its been here forever! LOL!
Its also my first vinyl top attempt too.
What do you think?
This shot is my favorite.

Wow, that's great! I've only done one weathered car and it was a lot of work, probably more work than a "normal" car. I can't imagine how much time you spent on those. All I would suggest is grinding out the plastic from the inside near edges and rust holes; the thickness looks out of scale.
Funny thing is I use a piece of wood for my prop rod, and it has splinters on it just like your model's.

You have inspired me to start my own diorama. Well, kinda. So far i have relocated my 1:24 scale GMC Top Kick flat bed hauler, and i've compacted/flattened 2 cars (1987 Buick GN and 1969 Camaro SS; both cars raped for any valuable parts) Onlything i gotta do now, is find some complete ones, weather them, and make the diorama itself.

BTW....where did you find the 1/24 scale 55 gal drums ?
These were a nice touch.

lol, awesome work. Maybe you should buy some cheapo older style diecasts, and give them the old look, then put 'em in a vice and squish them. :evillol: every junkyard needs a stack of cars.
They all look really cool, I like the filthy look to the whole area. How did you get the sign to look like that?

I bought the drums at my Local Hobby Shop here in South Jersey. The HS is call Allied Hobbies, they will ship too.
They were bagged with a wooden pallet and 2 55 gallon drums. I weathered the shit out of them as well as a few dents!!
I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the company that made them.
Goto the military Dio sites that's where ALL the good pieces can be found as well as killer sources.
Heres a KILLER one that Post on.

All I did for the signage was mix 60% Testors flat black and 40% Thinner, added some rust powder (dried out steel wool) and "dirtied" it up!

I use Kodak photopaper to lay my Photoshop creations on so it has a geat shiny layer on top that you can put nice scratches onto with an Exacto knife.
