I have the very same question, actually. If someone could be more specific about where I can find a route through the firewall, my retarded azz would very much appreciate it. Thank you.

The hole I use is on the drivers side, below the clutch master cylinder. It looked like the owner before me made it bigger because he had a system in there, but took it out before he sold me the car. It was very apparent to me, but I just install stereos for a living :2cents:

i didnt install my system, they guy before me did, and the wiring is all on the passenger side. i dont know the specifics, but it looks like he just drilled a hole into the toe board. ill let ya know if i find out more tomorrow. if you have a clutch, the master cyl should be on the drivers side right below the windshield, also next to the big round brake cylinder. it should have a little resevoir above it where you put in the clutch fluid.

Thanks for your input, zdude. I will take a look down there as soon as I get a chance.
I've read that there's a grommet in the firewall that the ecu wiring harness goes through. anyone know where I can find that?

Well, I'm sorry. I don't want to drill a hole in the firewall.
Please don't ban me, JSPEC. I didn't mean to make you unhappy by bringing up an old thread. I found this thread after searching the archives because didn't want to start a new thread on an already-discusssed topic.

haha it's cool man. i'm not a mod anyways so i couldn't ban you if i wanted to. shit i wouldn't even be a mod here if they asked me too, i can't stand about 90% of the mods here. and it doesn't matter that this topic had been discussed, you could have started a new thread if you wanted to. this is one of the only threads on this topic so it wouldn't be a big deal if there was another, especially since this one is pretty old. the kind of threads we dont like to see keep poping are the "where can i find an sr" or "which is better, sr or ka" kind of threads. those kind can be found anywhere if the person just looks. topics like this though aren't really that common so the answer might be a little harder to find.
damn, i sound like im rambling on and on. i'll stop now.

Heh great... I thought I was the only one too lazy to use the existing holes :D . Just make sure you know what's on the other side :lol2: And use a grommet to keep your wires safe from catching on the hole.

It's not my car, though. It's my brother's. I don't think he'd be cool about drilling a hole into the firewall. sounds like a good idea, though. You'd think it wouldn't be too hard to find the grommet that the ecu harness passes through, but there's just too much stuff down there compared to my car.

So.... someone post something about this. I'm also in the process but I'm not confident enough to drill the hole and assure myself that things will be OK afterwards.

Ok, I did it. I fed it through some hole that leads to behind the front tire and drilled a hole through the passenger-side toe area as close to the corner as I could. Gonna seal it up with some kind of sealant tho, water could get in if it rains really hard, but I'm from Arizona so WTF do I care for.
BTW, its a 1990 240SX.

Quit being so scared, I just went to look at my 240 cuz there is nothing in it except the glass, dash board and all harness removed, nothing but bare metal and a steering column. The hole that you seek is way out of reach. With your dash in, it is going to be so difficult to reach it, it is high up in there and there is some cover that kinda hides it too. Drill a hole get you those rubber gromets from auto zone, it ain't hard, trust me. But look first, don't drill through your booster and come crying to me, check both sides carfully or else, reach to the top left side on the drivers side, and follow the harness. it goes through that hole then comes out behind the fender, and then back into the engine compartment.

ok, so i was cleanin my whole car out, and i realized the prev owner didnt drill his own hole. he fed it throught a hole that is right behind the gas pedal, has a grommet, and even some wires goin in there that actualy belong there. its not too hard to access, you just have to kind of contort yourself upside down on the floor board and feed the wire thru while you are up-side-down. btw, i think i have 4 gauge wire, so anything smaller will fit. damn that wire is fuggin huge, at least 1/4 inch thick!!

I did drill it. Didn't you read my followup post? Meh. It wasn't out of reach at all... I figured it was the safest, and yes I did put a grommet in there, but I'm still going to seal it in case it rains. Gets pretty deep 'round here since we have crappy drainage systems. Rains 3 times a year anyway... *shrug* The wire runs under the passenger-side carpet.
It's only 8-guage though. Probably can handle only up to 500W. Oh well, I'm not that big of an audiophile... not like I'm gonna go from a 200W anytime soon.

best thing to do man is drill a hole make it a little bigger then later on if u want to add something else like neons its easyer to run and cleaner and no hassle of trying to find out where to put the cable thourgh any more

Thanks for the suggestion. I think neons are retarded though. I like it stock. Cept for under the hood... and in the stereo of course.
Nice sound setup. Mind if I come pick it up? I'll do it for free... :P I need to find a bigger amp cuz I have a 750W RMS sub (PowerAcoustik) and I really want to hear it... well, maybe someday soon.
