I purchased a used 1996 Taurus some years back and would like to find out if this vehicle has keyless entry. Is there any way to tell thru the VIN or can I look someplace for a reciever. Thanks,
-Ed

the reciever should be in the back trunk towards the front near the wheelwell (I could be wrong on a 96, but thats where the unit is in my 93)

but if you dont have the keypad on the door, you dont have it.

sounds like the charging system is going south. test the battery and the alternator. the battery while the car is off should be 12 volts, and while its running it should be 14-ish volts.

These instructions will work on Taurus models, 93 - 95:

Turn ignition to RUN or ACC. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located in LR quarter panel area. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

These instructions will work on Taurus models 96 - 97:

Cycle ignition from OFF to RUN 5 times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN.
