power window down!

I closed my door yesterday and the window slid all the way down, and it won't come back up. I can hear the motor noise when I push the switch, but no movement on the window. This is for a 1990 Ford Probe. My husband took off the door panel, but we are not sure what to do next. Any help? Thanks.

check the bottom of the window. If you can lift up the window, most time the sash that holds it to the regulator is broken. if you can't put it up, it probably means the spring swung around, probably one of the rivots that holds it gave out. anyway, some are cable, and some use that heavy coil of spring. watch out when reaching in the door, the sheet metal has razor sharp edges. If you can lift the window out, use duct tape over the top of the door to hold both sides of the window while you inspect the bottom, make sure it sticks properly . good luck.
