AEM Pulleys=Upgrade Alternator?

Well, it looks like it's true that the AEM pulleys can take your battery out very fast, and that happened to me tonight. So is it necessary for me to upgrade my alternator as well?

Do you have a big sound system in your car? like amps and subs and shit?

cuz the pulley's shouldnt be used with them, cuz they drain your battery faster, since the alt is now not charging as fast as it used to.

u can try and upgrade the alt to a high-output model to see if that will fix ur problem.

Funny thing is that I only have stock sound system. I do drive with my lights at high beam, but then again my lights aren't those HID or super white things. Maybe an alternator upgrade will fix it--hopefully.

upgrading the alternator pulley doesnt do anything for HP and since its lighter, it just sucks more juice faster out of the battery. If i were you, just put it back to stock rather than spending hundreds of dollars on a new alternator that wont give you any HP anyways...

Can sombody explain to me how a lighter pulley can draw current from your battery? :confused:

what type of amp output for the new alternator should you get if you have the AEM pulley system. the stock is 80amp.

I would think that you'd need at least 120 amp. The stock one in my car is 70 amp--very inadequate right now. As explained by the mechanic, the reason why it's not getting enough output is because the diameter of the AEM pulley is larger than the stock pulley--so that means that it is slower than the stock. The result is then lesser output because of it. Upping the capacity of the alternator seems to be the solution here.

why do you say that they are a waste of money for?
