baja or rail

I started cutting my old bug up to make a baja but lost interest since I live in washington and have no need but am going ot be moving to AZ soon, and when i get there im gonna have lots of free itme and I either wanna build a baja or a rail, and I am prettu sure the powerplant is going to be a 1935cc dual port wit dual carbs, and maybe some mild cams, nothing too spendy though, and wither way It is going to be VW suspension front back as well. but I wanted to know which is a betre platform for flying around in the sand, long or short wheelbase. I will either take a bug and reinforce the whole thing wiht a big rollcage, and mount in so racing seats with 5 point harnesses, or I was going to use a bug, cut off from right in front of the doors forward off and build a extended fram and mount the fron suspension farther away and with sheet metal build a longer nose, but not sure which would be the better way to start, it seems like the short wheelbase would be more manuverable, but at the same time much easier to flip over. and anyone have a baja with a nice running 1935cc, is this too much you think or not enough, we have a rail alreadyb wiht a 1600cc dual port single carb and it moves along pretty good but with the tall tires you cant get it to 4th, wind out 3rd as high as you want and shift to 4th and bog down everytime. so I am hoping another .35 liters and an extra carb will let me go tearing down the beach at about 100 :grinyes: :evillol:
