Fastest Car on AF?

BlueShadowDemon

Who has the fastest car on AF? I'm not talking about Ferraris McLarens, anything real exotic like that just your general domestic/imports? I have been looking through all these forums for a car to build that will be the reliable/fastest out of the little fast, cheapest, reliable triangle. I dont want to spend 50k for a skyline or anything, but I was looking into getting an older Turbo II dodge daytona, or maybe something like a 1st gen eclipse? What you guys think?

Kidding...

Not sure who has the fastest... I don't think anybody really cares who's fastest... We just make fun of each other and post pictures of dumb cars... such as what I did.

Woot!

Oh, Wow Does that "blower" make u run those 10s?

:P Well, I was just wondering who was the quickest and what they are running to help me get some ideas on what I want to get and what I want to change when I get it :)

with that wing you should be running 9s at least man. No I agree with what your saying i think some people have cars that do 9s in the 1/4 and a few have things like lambos and the such.

haha, its not my car... some dink on Ebay is selling it.

Well, the fastest people here all have some sort of power adder like turbochargers and superchargers or nitrous.

We've got a few members that are in the 10's and 11's... a handfull of 12's and 13's... tons of 14's and higher.

I myself should be in the low 13's to mid 12's with my combination. Click on the link in my Sig to see what i'm running.

I know a few people here will post on there particular favorite setups... in time you'll get the info you're looking for.

That bumper is just ugly. And the "blower," why? That guy should have his ass removed.....

As for your car question, how about a clean looking 240SX? The possibilities for these cars are almost endless.

All depends on how much you want to spend.

lol, I know that, it isn't your car I saw it on ebay to with the blower connected to the throttle body I think... lol anyway he is an idiot but, you have a Nice setup.. Thats one sharp Nova. I was also looking into maybe getting an older camaro. There are a variety of cars and setups and I never thought it would be this complicated, but everyone has their own opinion which makes things harder lol. I wish I could just get FACTS. I have been searching, but I dont think that those really exist:) Anyway though. Anyone posting their setups I would love to see them, I like to have my car running high 12's low 13's something around there. That is about where my goals are for the future but I want something I can have as a daily driver till that time where I have the funds to do all of that.

A good all around setup would be a 240sx with a Turbo slapped on... good handling, and good 1/4 mile wrapped all in a cheap bundle.

Its very well balanced in all departments... I appreciate them alot now.

TerminalVelocity has a '89 with the KA24E motor, even at 105-110mph you feel like you're going 75-80mph... very stable car... Just not when he's driving... dude's looney! :jump3: :screwy:

mine was up to 125.... steering wheel didn't budge. i still have plans for an rb26 powered one... as soon as i win the lotto :lol2: but its hard to show off how fast these are to people... when you are going 75 it feels like your going 50.

my 300z should run 12s when i add in the slicks.

Interesting... shouldn't the blower be facing off to the side instead of in front to match the crank pulley on a transverse engine? :loser:

lol i did not think of it but that is so true :grinno:

btw as cars to make fast fr cheap i would say an older fox 5.0 mustang, an lt1 camaro or if you can afford and ls1 camaro

or you can turbo the heck out of an small engine as in the case of a turbo II daytona(the expert here is polygon) or a turbo b18 or a nissan sr20DET(there are other options but those are among the most common)

I've got the fastest car. My 0.356 liter subaru can easily beat a water-bed (and other assorted non-vehicles) at the quarter-mile.

BlueShadowDemon, get a car that you like and want to drive. So what it can't do 13s on the 1/4. Atleast you'll enjoy driving it :)

or maybe something like a 1st gen eclipse?
the older eclipses are nice. but if you're looking for speed go look for a firebird or camaro ss.

he hasn't posted here in a while, but i think Self has a low 11 sec camaro. but everyone's starting to get 240sx's.... go get one and pop in an sr20det, or rebuild and turbo the existing engine. it is the BEST all around car for driving, autocrossing, racing and pure fabulous driving. mine was a slow single cam auto and it was still one of the most fun cars to drive.

I was thinking of maybe getting a 240SX but instead of the sr20 I was thinking rb20 or rb25? I think.. I know its the skyline engine. I was also looking at the Fox Body style mustangs, but there is sooo many around here and I dont wanna just be one of the crowd. Anything I get I will enjoy driving since its going to be my first car:) I've looked and the insurance would rape me for an older camaro ss. I dont know about the newer lt1 or ls1 I will have to look into those. Ive got about $2500-3000 for the car. I will have to save up later for the mods, but I think the 240SX would be a good choice, since Nissan cars are usually all very reliable. My mom and stepdad have a 200SX Se and an 95 Altima GXE and we never have any problems with it. We keep it up with regular mantainence, but I guess that is probably true for most cars. I was also looking into getting the Fox body, but the plus to getting that is that my dad is a certified master mechanic for Ford, Dodge, Chevy. I dont imagine Imports are THAT much different than domestic. The reason I was looking at the 1st gen eclipses is because of the turbo. Im not exactly sure if the 240SX comes with turbo or not? I know the Mustangs dont, but I think I would probably be very happy with the 240SX.. not sure I would still like to know what car will have the most potential for future investments:)

for three grand, i dont think you'll find a 5.0 or something like that, plus insurance on that is pretty $$$.

you can look around and try to find a deal on something, even ebay. i just got a 300hp nissan within your price range, and it's faster than a 5.0. and insurance is only 150/mo (3 tickets, 18, arg..)

but 240s are the way to go, just make sure you get a twin cam stick.

For $3000 I would have to consider:

early Miata
240sx
Legacy turbo
(ack) Civic
(ack ack) mustang

If the hardtop for the Miata werent so damned expensive i'd probably have one already. I love the way the Miata looks with the hardtop.

You can find a 5.0 for around 3g's.. she'll just be slightly rough. And insurance is surprisingly low for me... I'm 18, clean record and it's something like 600 for every 6 months... liability only of course..

Yes, alot of the time you can pick up a used FOX with mods already done for pretty damn cheap, if you know what your looking for.

As far as fastest, what are you looking for? 1/4 mile, top speed, road course?

Right now my car is in the mid 13's, with an automatic which is really holding me back. Once I perform a 5-speed swap, I should be in the 12's.

BlueShadowDemon

I am looking for the fastest as top speed wise for the most part, but I want it to be able to hit those 12s and 13s in the 1/4 mile:)

14 sec budget car
crx hf
16v a6 head
si tranny
gutted
good driving = 14's

turbo coupes are fun!

just wondering why you want top speed? not too many places you can hit 120+ regularly.........

Top speed is all but useless in a daily driver. 70 mph and below is where it's at.

I say get a J-O-B and nag until your limit's around 5 g's. For that much, you can get anything you want used. Are you tryin to juss go FAST or you wanna look good? For my first car, I did my research and ended up gettin a 1992 Subaru SVX for just under 5. If you do a 5-spd conversion, you'll be tearin up the opposition AND you'll look good doin it. Cant go wrong with an AWD flat 6! :grinyes:

Only real problem is that parts are nearly impossible to find due to the rarity of the car. Good luck!

Thats my :2cents:
