I have a couple questions I am hoping someone or anyone can help with. I have a 1998 Chevy Cavalier, 2.2 liter engine with approximately 98000 miles on it. The first is after the car warms up, I am getting a sort of rattling noise coming from the area of the engine that the alternator system, power steering and coolant tank is located. The noise reminds me of putting a card in bike spokes as a kid. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Second, on the HVAC system, I lost the ability to have fans at the first and second level speeds. If I have the speed control for the fans at the first or second setting, I get nothing, If I move it to the third or fourth, it works fine but every now and then I either get a squeeling noise, a rumble noise or a sort of vibrating coming from the vents. Third and final question; I have been getting the check engine light on the car and autozone tells me the error code is P440. Can anyone tell me what the fix is for this? Thank you for your time and help.

shot in the dark here, but it could be that your harmonic dampener has called it quits...thats more of a clanking noise rather than a rattle.

This is just a guess but if the car has a/c it could be the clutch on the commpresser...your fan problem is likely the fan setting switch...but if it growel's it could be the bering's in the fan motor are stiff and it will not turn until it get's enogh current ...like on setting 3 & 4....
