ok im having a delema here.

ok i have an EJ22 but cant find to many good parts for it. i also hear that the block isnt to strong so a turbos not realy a good idea for that.

i want to do a swap to the EJ33 SVX motor theres alot of custom work involved my goal horse power with this is 650 in twin turbo configuration

my other option is an EJ20 motor i can get it allready twin turbo and just do all the rebuild for it.

ok i want to stroke out whichever motor i go with. i know there isnt one for the EJ33, i doubt the existance of such a kit for the EJ22, im pretty sure there is one for the EJ20 though.

my goal is 600-650 streetable horsepower in a turbo/twin turbo setup.

also what transmission do you all recomend. i currently am automatic which i want to convert to manual anyways so thats not an issue.

An EJ22 out of what? Some of them were closed deck and very strong for turbo builds. The 2.5 heads bolt right on, they're the most free flowing. Anyway that's an alternative to a swap.

Okay, it's 2212cc displacement, 135hp @ 5400rpm and 140 torque @ 4400 rpm. 9.0 compression.

Now that I look I think ALL EJ22's were closed deck. It's also the same block used in the Impreza 22B, which is the god os Subaru's, so I don't think you'll have any problems with the block being weak. With some forged internals I would think the block would be fine for what you want.

A flat 6 would be damn cool though. A 3.0 from a legacy or something would probably be easier to find than an SVX motor. Lot more custom work involved there, but very cool and more displacement means higher power potential.

IMO there is no point to swapping in a 2.0 though. It would be more cost effective to build your current engine.

edit: try searching www.ravensblade-impreza.com for a lot of good tech info.

www.cobbtuning.com sells 3 stages of complete cylinder head packages, but they're kinda pricey. Stage 3 includes I think the ENTIRE top end and the valvetrain is reliable to 8500 rpm. Most people doing a 2.2 turbo use the DOHC 2.5 heads, so the ones on that site you would look for are the 98 Impreza 2.5RS heads. I have heard the cooling ports on the ej22 block dont match the ej25 heads and require a little machine work to fit, like what has to be done on an LS/VTEC in a Honda.

I have no idea about a stroker kit, you could try searching www.nasioc.com for that. With enough searching you might find a cheaper alternative for heads too, but Cobb is generally regarded as the best in quality. Try searching for Axis, they sell high power crate engines and I'm sure they sell parts too.
