I have a 1990 gti which I havent been driving very long distances at all and not every day either and I'm having to recharge my battery or jump it almost every time I drive lately. Ive taken it in and got it looked at and have had new batteries but it continues to do it. I bought the portable booster cause I need it almost every time I go out. Does anyone have any guess at all what it could be? Im at my wits end here and just found this forum hoping someone might be able to offer some suggestions. Thanks so much for any help.

Hi, a common problem is the trunk light. The switch is on the lid and it disables when it contacts the plastic sill on the ledge when you close the trunk lid. The plastic breaks off and then the switch does not disable when the lid is closed causing the weak battery(you don't know unless your in the trunk-bad idea). If the car is driven everyday the discharge is not noticeable but after a few days it kills the battery. If not the problem check charging system, grounds and other possible drains by pulling fuses with a meter on to see which circuit is the problem.
