celica and taurus

I was driving my girlfriend home yesterday, when a 97 celica gt pulled up next to me and revved at me...then we went at it, of course there was no competition so i passed him and then slowed down because there was a police trap up ahead.
then a taurus pulled in front of me and started to rev at the celica...at this time we were at a red light..
the light hit green and the tuarus' wheels start to smoke but the celica got a quicker jump and was ahead...By this time I was tired of looking at them so i gunned it.
I started to pull away from the taurus first then I shifted and quickly pulled ahead of the celica...
When we stopped I just saw the shock in his face...I knew he couldnt believe a civic could beat him

I dont know why they'd be so surprised. Civics aren't exacly slow cars like a Tarus and Celica are.

um i dont think celica's are that slow if they are auto they are really slow but manuels are fairly fast i heard

The new Celicas are pretty quick. The old Celicas are pretty slow (4 headlights). The even older Celicas (pop up headlights) are slow...except for one level which I can't remember :rolleyes:.

Do you have a DOHC del sol? Those aren't that slow. My car is slow...

hehe...have you ever raced an AWD Turbo Celica....they very very quick...I think they stopped producing them in 94, but I saw one this weekend and it was very nice and really fast

Those Celica GT-S are pretty quick in manual. This hot asian girl that goes to my school whored me driving down 95. We were :flipa: around, and we got next to each other on a part of 95 where it wasn't too busy..needless to say Toyota could have done a better job of designing the new Celica's rear end :)

ive never seen a fast celica. i beat a new gts by like 3 lenghts in my scooby. but i shouldnt talk my honda does 0-60 in 27 seconds, and the 1/4 in 25 seconds. thats right it takes more than a 1/4 mile to even hit 60mph! but its cool though, how many people can say they have a 2 cylinder 1300 pound honda that 4 people can literally pick up and move around? its quite fun driving a refrigerator box around...

wow u guys dont know what ur talking about the new celicas have VVtl-i and 180 hp...would kill any of ur little hondas... and with the old celicas... hope ur not talkin about anything new than a 90 cuz when i had my 91 stock it ran a mid 16.... so how about u guys know what ur talking about before u say it...

and BTW the guy who said he runs a 25 on the 1/4 and beat a celica.. yeah mabe the celica left it in 1ST GEAR and almost won....

vtec ludes stock aren't that fast, wait till you tangle with any of those swapped, gutted crx's, even with my turbo i've had some problems with a local na'd crx.
never underestimate the crx's those things are light as hell, and with the right engine swap they can pull 13's or higher

im not underestimating of course..but in the town i live in theres at least 1000 kids with civics who think there tight shit... and theres only about 6000 kids, not only that most of em throw body kits on and buy air filter and buy a muffler tip...not even whole exhaust.... and think there the shit

yeah, i hear ya, lot of fartcan exhausts around here too, problem is there is a lot of money in this area and since that stupid fucking movie fast and the furious came out, alot of people are doing serious mods/swaps with their civics.

haha i think we all are... dont get me wrong i dont hate civics... in my mind there universal cars, u can get a 13 second civic for cheap, but u hardly ever see a "fast" civic, i kinda hate civics though cuz they toatly overwhelm me in my town....the people here basically made them gay
