Hello
I had a transmission problem on my 98 Taurus. Had it fixed for $2500. Now I am having some more problems and the guy who fixed it says I need a new Radiator. I am not sure if he us trying to get some more work and more money from me or if it is true. He says that the radiator is too old and that it is not cooling the tranmission fluid well.

Can anyone guide me regarding this.

I am a total ignorant when it comes to things like this

You'd better get a second opinion. This guy didn't catch the rad problem the first time?!

What was the trans doing the first time? For $2500, it should have been a complete overhaul. Which I'll bet you didn't need.

What state or province are you in? Someone should be able to recommend a trustworthy shop in your area.

Sounds to me that it's likely you're being took.

Hi
My taurus had stopped moving completely and hence had to do the transmission work. I live in Canada and paid $2500 CDN Dollars to have it fixed. Now the new radiator as he quoted costs me $500 more and he says once I fix this then I wont have any problems at all with the transmission. Does what he say sound right and is it true that the radiator also cools the transmission fluid.

Thanks

Sunny

It's true the rad cools the transmission. My last reply didn't post. ???

Try this: Go to www.tauruscarclub.com and post your problem. I'm fighting the flu, and not thinking real clear right now. They can help.

Good luck, and take care. I'll reply to this again later.

i'd take the car to another shop for a second opinion. if you feel like something isn't right, it probably isnt. get more than one mechanic to diagnose what the problem is.

and ya, we're a bunch of good guys over at tcca! :D

Where did you have that done? $2500 seems like a cheap low quality rebuild. :/

I had it done in Windsor in Canada. May be you are right. No wonder all these problems. I am taking the car to another place tomorrow and we will see what they say

Thanks
