Hey i want to know if anyone has any tips on how to improve 1/4 times? Last time I went I needed an oil change and didnt let any air out of my front tires. Next time I go I am going to get an oil change right before i go and this time let air out of my tires... i think that will give me a better time. Anyone have any other reccomendations for me?

don't have a full tank of gas, save the weight. rip everything extra out, spare tire, etc, whatever, be creative.

All the above and take off the power steering belt and do a Throttle body coolant bypass, ( i dont know how it add's h.p. but it does).

Yes run a low tank of gas, take out extras, and than throw in some octane booster. it will help. don't let air out of tires. never do that. If your having traction problems don't launch the car at to high of rpm's and never pop the clutch at the line either for a start. control that heavy foot. I drive a 95 civic with some nice upgrades and run 13.7 right now on the d16 motor. Its fun but not good enough for me.

13.7 my ass unless you got tons of $$$ or have boost, and yes if you wanna catch traction do let air out of your front tires. And octane booster doesnt help, higher octane gas will only help if you have a real aggresive cam and your having detonation problems with it otherwiese octane booster is useless

All the above and take off the power steering belt and do a Throttle body coolant bypass, ( i dont know how it add's h.p. but it does).
the bypass keeps the intake manifold and throttle body much cooler keeping the charge of air going in cooler. Note that doesnt mean it wont get hot but it will be much cooler. Benefits even more if you have a cai.
Practice your 60ft times. Weather you have a fast car or a slow one the launch pad is where the most time can be gained. Dont deep stage because that kills you 60 ft times. too hard to explain, just trust me on this one.
also try a ram air intake setup even if its a home made one but it will give you a couple extra mph if you set it up right.

Let me give you some of the few upgrades I've completed on my car so far. Port and polished head, sleeved block, srp pistons with 8.5:1 compression, crower connecting rods, skunk2 valves, valve springs, retainers, skunk2 cam, GReddy turbo kit with large front mount intercooler, Greddy exhaust, Random Tech. cat., skunk 2 intake manifold, str throttle body, throttle body spacer, head gasket, fluidyne radiator, AEM fuel rail, fuel regulator, rc injectors, and an exedy racing clutch. sometimes I will run a 50 shot. And now you don't think I can run a 13.7..... maybe I should send you my time card than for proof. It took me 4 years to save up for all this so take your haterism somewhere else. And I don't have to let any air out of my tires to get some traction. You learn when you actually have horsepower not to jus throw down the pedal right away otherwise, tires have a tendancy to lose traction. You will also learn to find your launching rpm's so you don't peel out off the line too much. Just little things that should have been learned a long time ago by people who do drag.....unlike some obviously

hey mattyoung33- are you basically wanting to know something that is "free" that you can do, or are you planning on spending some money?

OK UMM.. people get things mixed up here... letting out air will give u traction... BUT doesnt it slow you down? Its like me trying to ride my bike with low air.. I have to stuggle more to move the damn thing. If you had a FULL tire and hard as hell that thing will free-roll alot easier... Just learn not to burn out and DONT drop the clutch! simple! practice on a dead desserted street. People get the weirdest ideas... I have a stock D15B7 (for now) and am wondering how much boost I can run SERIOUSLY safely without breaking anything. Or how much of a shot can I run on without blowing anything up? Right now all I have is a tanabe full cat back exhaust and short ram intake

front tires at 15-20psi
rear tires up to 50-55psi
run 1/8-1/4 tank of gas
take everything out
disconnect power steering belt
if you have adjustable shocks stiffen rear
0 toe front and rear
0 degrees camber front as much negative rear
wider tires in the front, skinnies in the rear
rear tires up to 50-55psi

you wont loose time or speed. look at the people running slicks, they dont even use like 8-10 psi of pressure in their tires and they get good traction anf good times also...

13.7 with all that boost, and nitrous damn, PATHETIC if you ask me i am down right ashamed to have you owning a D16, My friend is running 12's with just a 50 shot of nitrous, bolt ons, and some head work. And yes i would love to see a pic with all of those mods you claim to have, i really enjoy how you have injectors but no form of FMU except for an FPR which is not enough for a Turbo setup, how much boost you runnin to run that 13.7's?? I hope its not more then 3 PSI with all those other mods, you have. I hope you didnt spend to much on that turbo kit and all that other shit either because in a few weeks i will be running just as fast as you if not faster with only 900 dollars invested, Interesting isnt it, what people who actually know what they're talking about can accomplish?

slicks are made to be ran at low pressure.
i tried the low tire pressure shit at the track, well i didnt gain anything. i ran a basically identical time with 38psi as with 20psi in the fronts. unless you have drag radials or slicks, leave your stock pressure. If you spin too much, dont launch as high, or get new tires.

Yes what a shame it is for you to be talking all that ish like you really know what your talking about....please you wont even be able to see me with the shit you only have, even with an extra 900 you wont see me. First of all I only get so much out of a d16 motor (which I'm selling the car right now anyways) d16z6 motor sucks and there is no potential in it. And a d16y8 motor also blows..... Jus like all the other people around here who run there mouth that think they are all fast and tight shit. Plus that 13.7 is without nitrous..... the turbo I do have sucks, takes forever to spool up, that relates to the slow time. With n2o I will run 12.9 b/c it will help the turbo spool a lot quicker. All I know is that d16 is shit, b16b or b18c5 thats more like it.

Here's a suggestion from my brother 2 time pro street drag champion
" Get a big block 400 and bolt on some good ass edlebrock heads, intake manifold, than put on a supercharger and two 1250 carbuerators and a blower, and get a pro n2o shot of about 200 and see what kind of time you will run." He's a domestic kind of guy

Ok that makes a lot more sense, 13.7 w/o spray you could of specified that first. And yes i do know what im talking about, with an extra 900 dollars in my car i will not only be able to see you i will be right there at your door panels, proabably a little ahead of you. Let me explain what i plan to do
- LS rods 50 dollars (already Have) Not installed
- Y8 Intake Mani and throttle body 50 dollars (already have) Not installed
- Pin and Post block 36 Dollars (already have) Not installed
- 14B turbo w/ exhaust housing 100 dollars (already have) Not installed
- Blitz boost controller and turbo timer 150 dollars (already have) Not installed
- Braided Coolant and Oil lines 75 dollars (already have) installed
- 5 inch custom intercooler 200 dollars (dont yet have) not installed
- 2 1/2 inch down pipe and charge piping 45 dollars ( already have) not installed
- Greddy Blow off valve 100 dollars (already have) Not installed
- DSM 450cc Injectors 35 dollars (already have) Not installed
- Apexi SAFC 220 dollars ( already have) installed
- Y8 pistons 30 dollars (already have) Not installed
- Resistor box for injectors 2 dollars (already have) not installed
As you can see that adds up to 1093 dollars 193 dollars over what i had originall quoted i apolpgize, but with that setup i will be able to run about 10-12 psi at the track and 6 psi daily driver relatively safe, at 11 psi with my car stripped a little i should be running mid to low 13's, and for only about 1100 dollars invested thats not bad at all compare that with a 2600 B16B or that 3300 dollar B18C5 which will be getting you into the high 13's, so just do the math which would be the best bang for your buck?
And as you can see all i really need to do is install, and buy and intercooler, but unfortunatly do to lack of time, and a budget problem for the intercooler it wont be done till novemberish
I gotta tell you though, i got everything for such a good price because it is all used except for SAFC, Resistor Box, and Intercooler.
I plan on putting an MSD ignition on as well, but not until i get all of the above up and running smoothly.

well options..... I didn't know you would invest, or I didn't know any racer would invest in used parts, Yes it is possible to run low and cheap with used stuff but you didn't specify that either. Most people will think that you're buying new stuff. Personally I would never buy used parts. I need assurance that I've been the one using the parts and that the previous person didn't abuse it in any way. But thats how I am. My plan now is getting rid of the d16 putting in a h22 and going all motor. I want a more reliable daily driver and there is nothing more reliable than N/A. Have fun with your future novemberish upgrades. I'm concentrating on work and saving now for my plans of swap. Race on!!!!!
