Using an Amp for Door Speakers

I totaled my truck and I'm looking for an eclipse right now. I'm Thinking on upgrading my the amp for my subs ( http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/subwoofers/roadThunder.cfm RT10-04 is the kind I have. 2 of them) to an MTX 404 ( http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/amplifiers/thunder404.cfm ). Is it possible to bridge 2 of the channels to run 1 of the subs?

Doing this would leave me with an MTX 202 ( http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/amplifiers/thunder202.cfm ) amp and no use for it. So this brings me to my question. Can I buy some aftermarket speakers to replace the stock ones and give the fronts more power with 1 202, and buy another 202 for the backs? I'm guessing I could do so with some wire splicing and soldering, but figured I'd ask here first. Of course, I'd have to use the amp on Full range and with the gain turned down a bit. Is this possible? Would I have to buy another battery to do so?

you could bridge that amp and it would be sending 140 to each sub. It would work but I would want more power personally

as far as your other amp goes you would only be sending 35 to each of your speakers which isn't much at all. Frankly I would look at some new amps alltogether. One that pushes about 200x2 @ 4ohms for your subs and one that puts out atleast 50x4 @ 4ohms for your speakers.

Did you really have your subs hooked up to that MTX 202???? I couldn't imagine running a sub on 35rms....it must have sounded weak as hell.

:lol2: yeah, I really had it hooked up to that. It wasn't that bad. The 202 would be running door speakers if I hook it up in this way, not subs. If I can get the money, I might take a step up with my sub amp, but money is a problem here. I'd also like to stay with MTX. I don't really want a real strong system anyway. I just wanna hear the bass and be able to hear the words at the same time.

if you just want to be able to hear the words just hook your speekers to the deck like normal. to improver preformance a bit you can run better wire to them. personaly i say sell the amp you have down size to a single woffer get an amp that will push 100-200W rms through one of them and wire your speekers to the deck. if you want crisper audio get an amp thats 4 chans x 50W @ 4Ohm. staying with MTX may not be the best choice. atleas you should explore other options and see whats avalible.

I've been looking around and it seems i can get more powerful amps for the same cost. Right now, I'm looking at Profile's California Series.
