I'm a new Mustang Owner........Of an 89 5.0 GT convertible.....
This cars been past down from my brother to me......He's moving and working on his second kid....And has no time for it now....
I need some info on the engine code and specs......
What can this car do?
My plans are to keep the outside all original....(but the headlights need to be replaced since they turned yellow).........But for the engine it runs strong but will need a rebuild.......I will be doing all the work myself with some help from my friend who has a 64 1/2 mustang and a 91.......
I will post pics in a week or two.........

yoyo - i have your brother car, the 89 lx convertible. I too will be rebuilding my 302 in a year or two - perhaps we can be of service to eachother. Moral support anyways. before we can help you with estimations on your car's abilitys tell us if she's stock or not; and if not what has changed.

The car is:
1989 5.0 GT convertible Black w/white top 180,000miles
Automatic..w/chip
K&N Intake filter
Enkie 15" Mesh Rims
Custom Fiberglass enclosure in the trunk...(fitted into the spare tire space)
But the car has no deck or speakers inside and the sub is blown......The interior is pretty thrashed......And AC does not work....(But I would remove the AC anyways)......The left window does not roll up properly and the drivers door lock does not seem to be working..........
So I have my work cut out for me......I am going to strip the interior and clean everything and fix the window and door lock......Then put it all back together with an alarm added.........
I already have an extra CD Deck/4speakers/amp.........So I will just need the sub and the car will have the stereo taken car of......
But I will be rebuilding it within the year........The differential was rebuilt 50,000 miles ago and the tranny too........The engine will be all mine to rebuild...But it is running strong........And a Supercharger will be going on with the rebuild........
But will a Supercharger hurt the engine.....???

Sounds like you have a fun project in your hands! How do you like her right now??
Since you're rebuilding the motor anyways, the supercharger will be fine... assuming you rebuild the beast with boost in mind...
Now, would it be wise to bore it out to a 306 ?

The title hasn't totally changed hands yet.....It will by the begining of next week.....
And my brother is still using it.......So I haven't driven it lately......But have in the past.....My friend also has a 91 gt and I have driven his.....
The only problem I have found really isn't a problem.....But going from Honda to Mustang I tend to peel out all the time...... :grinyes:
I'm used to.....History Of No Decent Acceleration........HONDA
You hit the pedal all the way down in a honda and something happens....With a Ford you put the pedal all the way down and that 300lbs of torque takes you for a ride....
I have a tendency of doing that.....
