Do you crack your knuckles (or any other body part)?

I have a nasty habit of cracking my knuckles every few hours. I forget how much it bugs people too. I’ve tried to stop, but so far, no success. I used to crack my neck the same way as well. That really freaked people out. Fortunately I’ve been able to break that habit, but sometimes I still wish I could do it.

Knuckles a few times a day, and I crack my back once or twice a week.

People cringe in pain when they hear my back crack.

Just thinking of a back popping is giving me a reaction like most people have when fingernails are drawn across a blackboard.

Knuckles, but only when my hands are tired, or when I'm playing a game or sport. Usually not everyday.

While reading this I was cracking my knuckles....the ones that are halfway up each finger (the middle one). I crack those on a regular basis, but that's all I crack. Although, I love it when I wake up, and my thumbs were stiff all night, then try to bend them in the morning and SNAP!

Oh....I crack my toes too right before I put my socks on in the morning.

I don't usually crack any parts of me.....not voluntarily anyways. Once in awhile when Alex and I are horsing around he will pin me down and crack my toes....and I get so pissed when he does that:devil: and he just sits back and lafs his butt off.

I crack my knuckes in all different directions, my back when it feels stiff, my ankles all the time, my knees every time I bend down and my right shoulder every time I bench press. Lots of cracking going on......

I crack my knuckles, all the joints in the fingers, neck, back, toes, ankles and occasionally my right elbow. The right elbow just makes a real loud crack sometimes. I just crack to loosen up the joints and to relax.

I think I missed a skeletal recall on my body or something, cause not only do I crack most every joint in my body by myself, but I have a chiropractor get the things I can't!

I know, I know! It's irritating as all heck to crack joints, but I'm in pain if I don't release the pressure! :( Especially my low back and neck. I have TMJ in my jaw (it used to click or even lock every time I opened my mouth! ) Up between my shoulders is where I carry all my stress, so that needs to be adjusted (cracked) weekly. My knees crack from all the years of figure skating. My elbows sometimes crack. My hips crack when I'm skating. My right wrist has permanent damage from skating where if I flail it front to back it cracks most every time. My ankles crack fairly regularly when they aren't giving out... I am in bad shape for having lived less than 2 decades! :(

I was a gymnast for a really long time, so all my joints were unhindered in their motion and never really cracked anything except maybe my ankle by accident or my knuckles. Then I quit that and started weightlifting. Boy did my body get confused. I crack my back, my neck, my knees occasionally, my ankles just for fun sometimes... when I walk barefoot at an odd gate on a hard floor, my right ankle pops every 2nd step, and most recently, when I started a little bit of taekwondo, I got used to the "coiled" position your fist makes against your side before you punch, and if I do that on both sides at the same time, I crack both shoulders, my elbows, and my chest. freaky, eh?

saturntangerine,

The really bad thing awaiting you is once you get up in years ( such as myself ), it will haunt you even more. Years of motocross has damaged on of my knees to the point of no repair without a major surgerty. The other took a round by a rather unwelcomed passing car full of youths some years ago and has never been right. That one blew my knee cap out pretty bad.
Every morning when I get up the first 15 - 30 mins are pure hell and I am only mid way through my 30's. Not to mention the two screws holding my left ankle together thanks in part to a fall in the first corner of a qualifier for a National Motocross event back in 86.

Age sux :bloated:

i cant crack anything......
but i would like to, because when i do crack a knuckle or something by mistake, it makes them feel all loose and fresh

:)

also, is it actually good to 'crack' your bones? health wise i mean.

Well I can crack most joints on my body. But regularly, my back and neck are the culprits. It's a nice release :)

There is absolutely nothing that relates the cracking of joints to arthritis or any other related diseases. It's either the moving of a tendon over the bone or a mere release of air that has built up around the joint. Basically, if you ever wanted to, you have an excuse to do so now! :D

I crack my knuckles often for no reason and my back and toes about once every two weeks. I never crack my neck. My brother does it often.

strange to see this topic, I was just thinking about it. I can crack every joint in my body. you name it I can do it after a nights rest. I could probably go into the guinesss book of world records. I once got up and poped all three joints of all ten fingers(at least once) then each wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Then all my neck vertabre, my jaw, ears, and almost every vertabre in my spine(had only 27 pops of the 30 odd vertabre). Then both hips, knees, ankles, and all my toes.

I also have some "infinite pop" joints where I can keep cracking the same joint indefinitly. My left wrist and the base joints of both my pinkie fingers.

I can also bend my little finger back onto my hand, that really freaks out people too:D along with making my feet swivel out to be 270 degrees apart:)

My ankles are infinite poppers, if I tilt my foot far enough it'll pop

ears, oh thats not very hard. In the middle of your ear are very small bones, the smallest in the body. If you rub your finger in a circular motion over them, one of them is bound to crack against your skull sometime or another. It's a quiet crack, but sounds loud cuz its in your ear!!

Mr. Ripply, no he has got freaky people backstage, I would get spooked!!:D

and btw- anyone who says they can crack their nose is pulling your leg. There is a trick you can do with your teeth to make it sound like they are cracking their nose but they ain't. I fooled some people with that, its funny:D but it really is impossible to crack your nose cuz it's all cartilige:)
