PLease help! I was driving my 88 Jeep Comanche truck the other day(sam as cherokee basically) and i pushed the clutch in and it stuck to the floor. I can't shift through the gears at all when the car is on, when it's off I can though. The trany fluid is fine, and i actually drove home without useing the clutch so I beleive the trany is fine. The brake fluid is full as well(hydralic clutch). So please, if anyone has ideas let me know here or email. [email protected]
Thanks!
Eric

Your looking at one of several things:
- Bad Master Cylinder
- Bad Slave cylinder
- Broken fluid line
- Broken clutch pressure plate (unlikely)
Usually you'd replace the master and slave cylinders as a set. But on the 87 and 88 cherokees (and most likely comanches) with the Pugeot transmission, the slave cylinder and throwout bearing are one piece and must be replaced as a unit as well (which requires dropping the Transmission)

If there is no leak the I would think the Master Cylinder would be dead, because whenever slaves go out they always leave a nice puddle.

same happened to me , was the combo throwout "concentric" bearing
etc. Just redid the clutch stuff and was ok. Try Crown parts if you can get them where your'e at. they are good and lower than Jeep prices, much better than the discount autoparts stuff-I wouldn't use that on my Jeep!Check your tranny front seal too as I put mine back together
then next month had a front seal leak, and had to do it all over again.
Dont forget the pilot bearing too.

well, I figured it out and I feel really dumb about it. The pedal itself was broken. So I welded it back together and everything is good, but thanks for the suggestions.
