I have a 95 Maxima, LE model. I love the car, great pick-up speed especially for 190 hp. But the only thing I don't like is that it has horrible handling. It doesn't have a wide turn radius and if you turn going too fast, the thign feels like it's gonna flip over. So I decided I want to get better suspension for the car. Does anyone know how much it would cost me?? Also how much to lower it because I am thinking about doing that too. Also how would I go about getting better suspension for my car?? Any help would be greatly appreciated :p

Suspension is an easy do-it-yourself job, so you can save a lot of money that way. And when I say do-it-yourself, I mean with a buddy or someone to give an extra hand. I haven't done any suspension mods on my max, but I have with our BMW.
Anyways, here is what I want to do.
KYB AGX struts w/ progress springs -$550 at www.cattmanperformance.com
Front Strut Tower bars have a huge range in price.
$50 from www.2kracing.com
$190 for a stillen bar
From my experience, it will be hard to notice a difference between stillen and a generic bar. They both achieve the simple function on triangulating the front suspension.
Rear sway bars are a must, and usually run 120-130 at cattman or custommaxima.com
Not a bad deal, 700-900 for a completely new suspension. My max will probably never see these mods cause I have to pay for college tuition. Doesn't matter though, cause I still smoke WRXs at the auto-X.
Oh yeah, and the MOST IMPORTANT mod you can do for better handling are good tires. I have yokohama avs db-s2s. V-rated, i love them.

ok thanks a lot man, I don't know much about cars though and will probably hand it over to my mechanic, don't want to mess with the suspension. So right now the cheapest way to get better handling is just to replace the tires?? I still may just get the suspension tighter though, because the handling definetly needs some improvements

See what they have in the suspension section for you but especially these:
Front Strut Bar $59(http://www.custommaxima.com/FrontStrutBar.php)
Progress Rear Anti-Sway Bar $129(http://www.custommaxima.com/ProgressRearSwayBar.php)
Those are two cheap and easy ways to stiffen up your ride (Trust me, you reeally don't need a mechanic to do these mods)

Check these mods that you can do to your maxima. learn and research alot before buying the components that best fit your needs and budget.
the most common and least expensive suspension mod that you can do to your max is the rear sway bar. it keeps your rear end planted to the ground and you WILL feel a difference, the previous posts mentioned the price of the RSB. as opposed to the front strut tower bar which is even less expensive, you could find one for under $20.00 if you look hard. but, it will not yield you a big difference in handling. i personally did not feel a difference, others say that they do feel a difference.. but even if you do feel the diff. it is very minimal. i consider the FSTB a visual dress up the engine bay mod.
if your tires are shot.. well, i would suggest getting those before any other mod.. your life rides on the rubber.
if you're a mommie's boy that gets everything he wants whenever he wants, then go with Biggunner's advise and get it all at once. but remember there are a lot of spring/strut combos.. you have to research which combo will fit your driving needs the best.
good luck and good modding.

thanks EPVQ30, yeah i want the cheapest alternative to better handling. I don't need it to handle like a Porsche or anything. Also this is my parents car but I frequently drive it, my car is a Civic 92 but I just can't take it anymore (too damn slow). But my parents want better suspension so I'm doing it for them, then maybe down the road I can do it to my own car (not the civic, but when i get a better car). The treads on the Maxima are pretty worn, so I guess now would be a good time to replace after what happened to my friend. So the cheapest way to get better handling is just to replace the rear sway bar right??? I don't need to buy anything else, just the rear sway bar. If that is so, then I'll get that definetly.
