gurgling under pass. side dash

I have a 96 Blazer that I bought around 3 wks ago, and among a few problems, I'm hearing a gurgling sound coming from under the passenger side dashboard. After reading the thread on replacing the heater core hassels, please don't tell me I gotta replace mine too. Other problems include my breaking off the hazard flasher button and having to super glue it in place so the flashers would stop, and so I'd have brake lights, but now I have no turn signals. Whats this part cost? Also am having shift problems (2nd gear, automatic) This is a 2 wheel drive vehicle. When tranny is warm, it shifts hard into 2nd. My check engine light is on constantly. Car dealer (non GM) is giving me the runaround, and I paid extra for extended warranty!

Looks like I get to be the bearer of bad news.....your heater core is most likely stopped up and will have to be replaced, make sure they flush the cooling system also....
As far as your extended warranty...read it closely and make the selling dealer honor it.....you may find that it doesn't cover much.

Mine makes the gurgling noise too, but it won't effect how it works. Don't replace it. Flush your cooling system because the orange dextron coolant needs to be changed frequently every 30-45,000 miles.

Mine also hard shifts into 2nd gear and from what I have heard, it's normal for this truck. Mine only does it on moderate acceleration.

You will have to go to the GM dealership and have the codes read. Don't go to where you bought it to get the work done, get a second opinion.

Yeah, my heater works just fine, although I did find some hoses that I'll need to replace soon. I dont have the orange coolant in the radiator, someone put the normal neo green stuff in. Will that hurt anything? Probably better just flush it anyway to be on the safe side. And about the shifting problem, I can live with it, for now, the dealer said they'd replace/rebuild my tranny since it's covered under my warranty, all I gotta pay is a 250 dollar deductable. These trannys are the 700r4 correct? If so, theyre selling around here rebuilt, w/warranty @ 3-400 bucks. I could easily do it myself, but would void my warranty, but at least I'd pretty much know whats going in my toy. How many complaints/questions can I post on here/do you wanna read?

Get your truck to the dealer immediately! I'm not talking in a week, but today or tomorrow. Mixing the green standard coolant into the orange will cause a chemical reaction in the engine that will turn your coolant into something that will resemble brown sludge and it WILL destroy your engine because it will plug up your small ports in your block and crack it.

This is major bud, get it in there. I did it to mine thinking that there wouldn't be a problem but oh man, was I close to a engine rebuild.

I don't think that whoever owned the car previously/ car dealer has mixed coolants. The coolant I have right now is a nice normal neo green color, doesn't look sludgy or anything, but I do plan on flushing my system soon, because I want things to be 100% correct. That and winters coming on here in Ks., so I wanna be safe & warm. Do I have to go to a GM dealer to get this orange coolant? How much more does it cost?

The cost is not that bad but your system is made to use the orange.

Does the resevoir have any brown sludge buildup?

Well, now that you mention it, yesterday when I was locating the source of my coolant leak, I DID look in the resevoir bottle and it was lined with a brown film. Hmmm...... But my actual coolant looks fresh. Maybe the car dealer PUT that kind in there so I WOULD eventually have to come back in for service. It's a non GM sponsored dealer. Just a 100.00 down puts it in layaway, blah blah blah used car dealer.

I used to own a 93 S10 Blazer ,It had the green antifreeze in it . The question here is what year did they change over to the Orange antifreeze. I now own a 99 S10 Blazer it has the Orange stuff in it.

I believe they switched over, between 1st gen and 2nd gen. So, 1995. My 1996 Blazer uses the Dex Cool stuff. My brother has a 1997 Jimmy, and he mixed it. Bad times. it's like mud. Definitely do not want to mix them, or use one when it calls for the other
