Is there anything I should replace or upgrade when i get a new cam w/ a rough idle? For a 1988 Mustang 5.0. What performance cams do you guys have good experiance with?

well if u have a lot of miles on it, or gonna have to change the lifters too (the cam and the liftersd wear into each other over time, leaving the lifter with out its "dome" on the buttom)

Do you plan on just getting a cam? Because without a good set of heads to compliment the cam, you won't see more then a couple hp with just a cam.
Now your 88 is speed density. Speed density cars most of the time don't react well with a hairy cam shaft profile, or other major mods. It can be done, but you have to know exactly what your doing, and converting to MAF would help too.

Speed Denisty cars can have cams swaps but you need to talk to some1 who really knows about it to pick the right cam out for you. Speed Density works n Manifold Pressure instead of Barometric Pressure. Making them more finicky about cam swaps.
Now along with the cam you should get new springs to match the cam, roller rockers, new timing chain.

I just put a E-303 cam in a 82 Gt mustang, it has good idle, and great take off. If you get a rough idling cam make sure you have a torque converter, unless its a manual. If you want just regular street driven power a lower duration and lift is best, if you want a street/strip car, and want that high rpm power then it's best to go with a .520 lift intake and exhaust. You can order good cams from Summit racing. Keep in mind if you do get a high lift cam make sure you dont have aftermarket rocker arms b/c 1.7:1 rocker arms create .030 more lift on the cam. But yes also switch to the mass air considering speed density sucks.

Speed Density sucks? SD cars in a stock to lightly modified have a decided advantage over MAF cars. Hence why SD is banned in NMRA stock classes.

Yes, stock for stock or lightly modded, a SD car will be faster then a MAF car.
