I don't think you should have to. Before you replace the driveshaft, you should replace the rear end, first. I think the 2.8 comes with a 7-1/2" so you'll want to get an 8" probably...

well, I'm not quite sure... with a 305, you'd probably make around 250-275hp at the wheels, if it's running good... it's an estimate

what year, and whats it out of?......anything 80's and the HP is sad.... bout 175-215 or so...
even the crossfire TPI 305 in about the 86 IROC is sad. my 95 extended cab S-10 CPI 4.3 spanked the piss outta one of those.

that should be better than the standard 305.....
now if only you had a 350 block, you could combine parts and make a 327.... :evillol:

A 305 out of a cop car? Is it rebuilt or anything? Cop car motors aren't the best kept ones in the world.... :shakehead

i think the cop car was wrecked and sold, then the person who bought it pulled the engine and junked the car. the engine looks in perfect shape its got VERY minimul rust and the intake and valve covers look spotless, the only thing wrong with it is i need to buy a distributor.

i kno someone who has a 327 and i can take ir for free, except its in bad shape and possibly locked up do would have to do a complete reuild which is something i dont have time for.

man, too bad. as a 327 would rock.
you can take two motors, a 350 and a 327, build them both to make the same HP, and the 327 would be better. the shorter stroke of the 327 revs faster, and will hit its peak HP quicker. that may not seem like much, but then again, ask a true drag racer what a 1/2 lb. air difference in the back tires does.
but at any rate, any v8 in an S-10 cant be wrong, so good luck with your project.
