Ok here goes...
Still don't know if I am going OBD1 or OBD2 yet.
But I need to know a few things before I start gathering up all the parts.
I have a harness from Blown90Hatch on HT for OBD0-OBD1 but may switch for an OBD2 harness. I have a P28 ecu.
Just want to know if I am correct here.
If I go OBD2:
I can use the dist that came with the Y8, I will need to get a Y8 motor harness, and I need a resistor box from the same year?? (can I use a resistor box from another year?)
If I go OBD1:
I need a 92-95 dist, I will need a motor harness from the same years (92-95), and a resistor box from the same year?
My concerns were if I had to use the same year motor harness and resistor box as the dist i choose to go with?
I know OBD1 is easier but my friend said he can save me $ since we can use the dist that came with the Y8 instead of buying a 92-95 dist.
Thanks!

Why don't you just use an 88-91 Si distributor/ECU and an RPM activated switch? A lot less wiring to worry about...

ECU
There are few options here. You could use the 92-95 Si ECU (P28), or JDM PR3/PW0 or the original 89-91 Si (PM6) unit. If you think that P28 is a lot better than PM6, you're wrong. P28 is OBDI, plus it's programed for good gas mileage and difference in fuel pressure for the added air when the vtec kicks in. For the ease of the swap, use the PM6 ECU with the 92-95 fuel pressure regulator. Don't forget to do this upgrade or else you won't have the extra fuel to compensate for the extra air once the vtec kicks in. If you really want to use the 92-95 ECU (better fuel maps), don't bother wiring from scratch, use the placeracing.com adapter. Trust me on that one.
In my opinion, the best option is JDM PW0/PR3 ECU. I found PR3 to feel stronger. There is a GREAT difference in performance between PM6 and JDM PW0. The easiest way is PM6 ECU with VTEC RPM switch activation.

Well I already bought the p28 and since this is my commuter, I still want good mileage. OBD2 would just be cheaper since I can use the dizzy I already have. But I have to hear back from Blownhatch if he will let me swap the harness I bought from him for the OBD2 harness...that will pretty much determine which way I go.
Either way, I just wanted to make sure I had the right parts (motor harness and resistor box) from the right years.

as far as i know you can run an 88-91 si resistor box (the dx doesn't have one  ). you can e-mail a guy named jason and ask him for sure. he's been making those conversion harness forever [email protected] he's at honda-tech but i can't remeber his screen name there

on second thought...let me correct myself. if you wanted to do rpm switch then you would need the resistor box. with the y8 they changed the impedance of the imjector so a resistor box isn't needed. :1:
i'm okay...really. maybe after another couple cups of coffee my brain will go fully functional

Oh yeah, I am emailing with Jason right now. I bought an OBD1 harness from him but now we are thinking about going OBD2 so I wont have to buy a dizzy...unless I can find a cheap OBD1 dizz...
But if I choose OBD1 or 2, Will I need the motor harness for that dizzy? or for the Y8? Still not sure about that..

okay, if i understand....you have the odb0 to obd1 conversion harness, y8 dizzy, and the p28 ecu. let me try and make this simple. as much as you can swap around d series parts.....you also can't. if you are going to use the y8 intake mani, fuelrail, and injectors then you need to kick it with the y8 dizzy. the y8 injectors are a different impedance. if you want to just use a z6 dizzy then you should use the z6 intake mani, fuel rail, injectors, and resistor box. it's best to keep y8 parts with y8 and z6 parts with z6. that is the most basic easy answer i can give you.
we have tried mixing and mathcing various a6 & y8 parts.....they are alike but not the same. the z6 parts are also alike....but not the same. if you want your stuff to run efficent and correctly then match it correctly. seriously! keep the dizzy, intake mani, and injectors from the same set-up which ever you should choose.
i highly recommend keeping the y8 stuff, obd0 to obd2 harness, p28 ecu. since you're talking to that guy jason, maybe you can trade in the one you have for the correct harness you need.

Just talked to Jason and he does not yet have the OBD0-2 harness so I will be going OBD1. I have the p28 and the OBD0-1 harness, I am now going to buy a 92-95 si dizzy, and a DX motor harness that my friend can modify.
Damn.....this swap is turning out to cost alot more than i though!! Every time I turn around, I need something else!! Axles, hubs, ecu, harnesses, dizzy, aahhrggh!!!
I think this is it though! Anyone have a 92-95 distributor and or 91 dx motor harness I can buy cheap?
It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it...It will all be worth it... :smokin:
Thanks!
